I don't put tone knobs in my guitars.
But with a tone knob on the bridge, you don't really even need a neck pickup-like an Esquire.

I used to build in those, but drilling them is really tough compared to an aluminum enclosure.   The price is hard to beat, though.  They do seem to take powder coat pretty well, too.

I have one of those.  You can get some OK sounds out of Pod Farm if you're willing to tweak it.  If it's just you messing around, then that's probably the quickest, easiest route.  Of course it depends what kind of tone you're trying to get.

I haven't seen that show in years.  I didn't realize it was still on.  Captain Sig is a real badass, for sure 

I think I screwed something up on mine.  I swapped the pt2399 from my Multiplex Jr. and got the same distortion.  Conversely, the PT2399 from the Dirtbaby sounded great in the Multiplex.

I'll have to come back to this one when I have some more time to troubleshoot it.
