First thing that came to mind was a razor saw mitre box:

Handy for lots of light-use jobs.

Awesome! There's also this breadboard pcb. Because, sometimes, all you need is a prototype  8)

Really? Sounds right up my apartment dwelling alley! Have you tried that? Got any pics of the setup?

I haven't built it and cannot vouch for its safety or effectiveness, but here's an apparently tested design:

Some have used an incandescent lightbulb in a box. Maybe foil lined?

Free Cascadia. Oregon/Washington/British Columbia as one independent region - one of the only regions to still be sort of habitable (probably) after acute climate change - if the so called "big one" earthquake we are due for doesn't take us out first.

I am all for this (especially if the Big One levels the space needle), though we'd immediately have our own East vs West secession crisis.

I learned a lot from this thread:

Not exactly on point to your question, but several bits of advice and explanation that could be handy. 8)

Probably the best way to improve image and sound quality is to shoot outside, in the daylight and out of reflective interiors. Or, get way more light in the room than you'd otherwise need. It will allow the aperture to open up, and the shutter speed to increase, cutting down on graininess.

It's pretty hard to find a camera that takes a mic input, but when you find one, it will be a pretty good camera in other respects as well  :P I prefer shooting dual, with an external stationary mic and audio recorder, and syncing them up later. It's more work, but the difference in headphones is substantial compared to an onboard mic.

Really fixated on a Firebird:

The Elliot Easton Firebird is a rare instance where the signature guitar for a lefty player is actually available in a left handed model. Not so for the Tony Iommi SG, or the Hofner Beatle Bass, etc, etc.

Caught Oshkosh's The Traveling Suitcase at the Green Bay pride festival a couple weeks ago, so I've been checking out their tunes. Gotta love badass singing drummers!

Open Discussion / Re: The bass sound in Hey Ya -- any ideas?

Yeah, I've assumed it was a synth. Notice the bass guitar riff at 3:28.

But the synth sounds pretty close to a square wave with an envelope filter, which could be approximated with effects on a bass. I'll be the hardest part would be playing consistently enough that the envelope sweep sounds the same enough.

I agree on the drop of water thing. The slope is slippery, and folks can get really fussy about what kind of water the drops comprise, but it can open up a harsh sip.

I rather prefer something like Famous Grouse to the more sophisticated pours when it comes to Scotch.  :o I continue to try new single malts when friends offer, but I remain a bourbon drinker I'm afraid.

I always thought the gonkulator would be more fun and usable if you could ring-mod the distortion too, as part of the mix. Starts to quickly become a forest of knobs. Though I suppose that's a ring modulator's native habitat.  :P

Nice solid design! I like the top mounted jacks--IMHO they're worth the lower knobs.
