E225L = 2.2uF capacitor

I'm guessing tantalum, given the polarization?

That I'm aware of, I've had one bad ceramic cap from them, across all my orders over the years (had a weirdly low value). Other than that, no problems.

Been on a Reggae kick the last week or two. Not sure why, just sorta am. (Completely unrelated to recreational use passing here the other day, I swear)

I'm glad my early voting experience was fairly painless (other than wrist strain from filling in the bubbles for 49 judges).

Didn't want to mail it in, so, drove to city hall and dropped it off. About 5 minutes to get there, about 2 minutes to figure out where the box was (in a sub-basement, apparently the county recorder doesn't get to see daylight), and about 10 minutes trying to get out of the parking lot. Yay rush hour.

Took about 2 days to get confirmed as received, and a day further to get the signature verified.

Aaaand tomorrow I get to put the sticker on. Huzzah.

Judges.... so many judges....

So yeah, got my ballot in the mail today, and just spent the last ~4 hours reading through case outcomes trying to decide who to retain. Really wish they made this stuff easier, like, a nice summary somewhere rather than having to DL pdf's of case outcomes one by one and reading through legalese. (Seriously I had 50 judges to vote on, my hand is cramped from filling in bubbles and my eyes are glazed from trying to decipher this damned legal language).

Worst part, I think that judges have only been recalled by ballot like, twice in the last several decades here, so all my research is probably pointless. But damnit, I'm gonna do it!

And hey, recreational use is on the ballot, and polling well ahead, AND includes language that would allow nullification of most pot offenses (I'm in an "any amount is a felony" state), so, that's cool at least.

Bah! Next you'll tell me I'll need to actually plug the pedal in! It's a circuit, that implies self-enclosed, why should I need to add anything to get it to work?!?!

If I'm reading right, the Echoman is based on/descendant from the Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man, so perhaps that is a direction to head in.

Fair warning, with only one chip, do know your delay time will be fairly short. ~300ms will be where it tops out, if not less.

Update: got the pedal back and everything works fine! I am beyond angry now. This guy is officially fired! I am refunding his money, less the 2 unnecessary shipping costs and $50 for my pain and suffering.

....was this fellow aware that pedals require a power supply? I used to do IT work occasionally, and sometimes you really do need to start at the bottom of the barrel with the questions to ask.

I was so sad, I normally go up on my local mountain to raid a couple chanterelle groves I've found, but my mountain was on fire this year at peak picking time. Granted, we'd had a dry as hell summer, so it's unlikely the harvest would've been spectacular, but I always enjoyed the hike either way.

(And though the fire would likely be spectacular for morel hunting, we have way too many false morels locally for me to ever really be comfortable picking them up here, and I have a graduate degree in mycology!)

He mentioned Smashing Pumpkins, which made me think creamy dreamer.

A Big Muff is not the "Smashing Pumpkins sound". The whole creamy dreamer thing was a complete fiasco, but it's nice to know it is still alive and well as "the way to get the pumpkins sound, brah!". Billy Corgan will never be able to break free from that one:

Huh, I thought it was "always known" that Corrigan had used an ICBM for that tone. Given I started in the pedal DIY scene around 2000, I'd have been right in the time zone for this, and I completely missed the hype (Granted, I was a high school freshman at the time, so I missed a lot as a rule). I clearly remember him telling a story about him getting the pedal dirt cheap, and after the album became popular, going back to the store to try and buy a spare and it's price had shot up astronomically.

"CIRCUIT - It is built with normal through-hole style transistors, capacitors, and diodes. Resistors are small surface mount style. The circuit is a different design than the V10 Little Big Muff. The transistors are four BC550Cs. Early circuit boards are marked EC-D47, and later EC-D47 Rev. A. It runs off of either a 9V battery or an industry standard 9V AC adaptor. "

It can match the tones of the V10 Little Big Muff somewhat in standard mode, but with the Wicker switched on it becomes a much sharper and brighter sound, but not too harsh. With parts that cheap, I always buy extra, partly for a price break, and partly because spare parts never hurt.

Does get a wee bit annoying when you're buying an oddball value that you've only ever seen in one project, where you need 1 and have 199 collecting dust on a shelf for the next 8 years.

So, my local public radio station damn near killed me tonight. As I was driving home from the grocery store, they played this track, and there is a moment in it that caused me to laugh out loud, so suddenly and forcefully, that I very nearly went off the road.

I actually had to pull over to let myself calm down and start breathing again. It was fantastic, I've not had a moment like that in months.

I've been playing Disco Elysium.

It's... great. Old school Isometric RPG with a fascinating impresionist-ish art style and some utterly fantastic writing. You're a dude who has literally wiped your mind clean with drink and drugs, and are kinda re-building yourself from the ground up. You have conversations with inanimate objects. You go off on random tangents during conversations about the nature of reality. You hunt a creature made of living sound. You throw up. I love it.
