General Questions / Re: 1590XX Enclosure
August 02, 2018, 10:56:47 PM
I don't think I've done anything with the 1590XX so I never made a library part for it.

I'm in for a buck and a half...

As far as the auction is concerned... is this a bid for $150.00?

If so... congrats.

Brian, let me know what the shipping costs are and I will send it over  ;D

Indeed, I did confirm his bid at $150 and has won the Auction. Thanks, gordo! I'll get the details worked out with him and get back with you. Thanks for the shipping offer.

And, thank you to all who participated!

I'm seriously considering a Kickstarter to launch these. Would be for the ForFuzzSake and include several options - fully built by me, kit with finished/artwork enclosure, bare kit, etc. I've priced it all out and one solid campaign would fund the whole set of projects. I originally planned to offer the FFS as a kit anyway so this would check off both to-do columns. More soon!

So, this is turning out to be a lot like when I did the 1590G batch: I set out to do a few and ended up with a full complement - most bases covered for a pedal board. But, I'm going to stop here....finally. This brings the total to 11 projects. That's it....I will stop. Really.

S'UpDog! is based on the Paul Cochrane JFET boost.
Quadrovibe is an update to the old project - offers a selection of vibrato, dual vibrato and vibrato + tremolo!
Kosmonot is a 4 stage phaser kind of in between the frequency central Causailty and a Small Stone.
TyDye (not labeled) is a dual parallel delay.

Seriously, time to move on. I'm glad I had a creative spurt but there are lots of things to attend to (can you tell I am arguing with myself?)

This is exciting. Thanks guys!

I will sweeten the pot: if the bid goes over $125 I will add in three additional PCBs of the winner's choosing. Anything I currently have in stock!

Just a reminder that this auction will end tonight. The current bid is $50 which is less than the retail price of all these items (not that there's anything wrong with that - just pointing it out in case you were planning on buying these items anyway).

Pick a simple design you like and I'll take a look at the schematic and tell you what to change.

Maybe I'll do two a month. Or, extend it into 2019. Here's a F.Factory and SWAW.

Cool idea. I'll bet these will sell like crazy. How many pieces will be available per project?

Not totally sure. It should be enough for anyone who wants to get one but not so many that they sit around for months. Most likely under 50 pieces each.

Here are the final two: BakeNShake Easyvibe and an updated/revised Sparklehorn. This makes a pretty good batch of projects, I think. Maybe some more in 2019.

If you did not know, Dino (digi2t), who is a long standing member of the DIY community, has recently experienced a serious health crisis. You can read all about it here: https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=120622.0

There is currently a GoFundMe campaign to help defray some of the expenses his family is accumulating. I made a small contribution to it but I think I could do more. Given my own recent health crisis and the response I received here makes me wanna!

Anyway, I'm offering up a batch of the soon to be released projects: VFE Standout, Pinball, Dragon, Distortion 3 and an mbp Uber Tuber WITH a 6111 tube included. All of the proceeds will go to the GoFundMe page and the winner gets free shipping, too.

The starting price for the Auction is $25 and will go through Monday night @ 11:59pm CST. If you want to bid just post it here. The highest bid submitted by the deadline will win.

Global Annoucements / Re: Never-ending Flats Fiasco

I haven't experienced this with ShipStation. You're using Endicia, right?

My only issue so far is that the tracking info often doesn't update back to USPS once it leaves the country. The relay company's website (goglobalpost.com) always has the most up-to-date tracking, but it stops updating on USPS after a certain point and appears to be stuck. Doesn't affect shipping time though.

Yes, but it might be going to the same processing center. It's in Chicago, I think. So far they've screwed up about a dozen packages and it's not only cost me quite a bit of coin, but also made customers wait a lot longer due to re-shipments.

Open Discussion / New Tape Deck Day
July 27, 2018, 11:15:01 PM
This is my second Onkyo of this model. I had one through most over the 90's which I used for mixing down 4-track recordings. Sometime in the 2000's I had this in a closet and without thinking about it I put a heavy car speaker on top of it which completely destroyed the heads. I probably should have kept it and attempted a repair but I didn't. Anyway, I still have tons of mixdown tapes and band rehearsals I want to digitize so I picked this one up for a fairly reasonable price. I could use my Tascam for transfers but I'm trying to save that just for 4-track recordings since I don't know how much longer it will keep working!

This is a nice deck with high speed dubbing and a record level knob. Really heavy, too.

Excellent idea and funky resistor placement there on the FFS... great with the onboard relay switching.
Is that the Coda effects switching system?

It uses the FFX switching system.

Gotta have a delay, too.

And the FFS project.

I'm starting a new series of projects called "Premium Limited Runs". Might be a hokey name but hey it fits. What's special about these?

- Updated classic/discontinued mbp projects. Maybe a couple new ones here or there.
- Done with premium PCB quality - gold plated pads and matte black silk screen.
- Includes soft-touch bypass.
- Fitted for either 1590B2 or 125B enclosures with top mounted jacks.
- Some parts will be included such as the micro-controller and relay for the switching, some of the power supply components, plus any specialty parts that are required.
- These will be "limited" in that they will only have one run - once they are sold they're gone.
- These projects will be more expensive but you will get a lot of value for the added $$.
- We'll start around the first week of September and there will be a new project every month for the rest of 2018.

The first project will be the EgoDriver. The next project in October will be the "For Fuzz Sake".

Here's an example of what to expect!
