Hmm. That could be a DC leak out of the pedal messing with the others. Does it do it when the QOB is bypassed as well?

Good comment! And, everyone should be aware that there is a "report to moderator" for all posts. If someone is failing to follow the few simple (and rather self-evident) rules we have, don't be afraid to use it. In almost ten years I think I've only had to ban 5 people. Three of those were in the last 6 months. I might be getting crankier with age so ain't nobody got time for that.

Very glad to see you back, Rej. I was worried you might have actually turned into a Jeep!

Χωρίς ΟΝΟΜΑ won't be joining us for any further discussions. I don't have the time or patience to deal with this kind of nonsense. Perhaps he can find some other "mediocre" forums to play on where the members meet his IQ requirements.

Global Annoucements / Triumvirate and Blues King released
February 01, 2018, 07:38:04 PM
The VFE Blues King and Triumvirate are now available for order in the store. Documentation was uploaded a couple of days ago.

Unfortunately, the Dark Horse is cancelled for now. There's just something I don't get about the circuit and I have not been able to properly diagnose the problem. I verified the issue over two separate builds. Frankly, I've spent too much time on it now and I need to move on (I was hoping to release all three projects at once). I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone. I might pick up on it again later but for now I need to get to the next thing.

Excellent! Next time add a pic to your tech help thread. A second set of eyes can help quickly find these sorts of problems.

General Questions / Re: Total Recall 24V vs 18V
February 01, 2018, 02:05:42 AM
You should be able to run it on 18v provided you 1) hook it up for positive ground and 2) jumper the 240R resistor (R57). Failure to jumper that resistor could cause the it to load down too much for proper regulation through the LM7915.

Open Discussion / Re: Need two volunteers - free PCB!
February 01, 2018, 01:38:55 AM
Thanks guys. I've PM'd two folks for the test. That's it for now, but if I need to do any more testing I will contact people that posted in this thread. Fingers crossed.

We seem to have a bit of reading failure so far  ;D

Open Discussion / Need two volunteers - free PCB!
January 31, 2018, 01:01:57 AM
I need two international volunteers to check out shipping methods.

- Free PCB of your choice (anything I have in stock under $10 - sorry no VFE)
- One must be in the UK. Second can be anywhere else in the world but Canada or Mexico (I am excluding Mexico because delivery can be very spotty there and Canada because I already have a test case).
- All I need from you is to let me know the date it arrives and send me a pic of the envelope/printed postage when you get it.

If you want to participate, post your location and the PCB you want. Just two people, please. I will verify your shipping address privately.

Rec'd my Organ Donor today and it looks great. I'm looking forward to a bit of SMD soldering...it's been a while. I'm going to try and re-purpose an FV-1 I have with a broken leg. Unfortunately, I can't even start on it for several more days.

VFE Projects / Re: Tractor Beam distorted?
January 31, 2018, 12:34:24 AM
A tip: don't need to add solder to reflow. Just work the existing joint. However, if you are reflowing a lot of joints at once it's a good idea to remove ICs temporarily to prevent the part from overheating.

Intense hum could also be lack of ground continuity between the I/O and DC jacks.

You are absolutely right. That is an error on the switching doc...it should be about 5v. I will correct it now. Thanks for the catch.

You have a lot of excess solder on those joints, but I don't think that has much to do with your issue. Your work-around on the 10k resistor seems fine. Getting clean signal through when you pull the FETs is good - it means that the problem is either those FETs or the LFO. If you are getting oscillating voltages on the LM358 then by process of elimination it is most likely the FETs. If yo uhave any other FETs it might be helpful to pop them in there...even if they are not matched just to see what happens.
