My pleasure guys. There's definitely something useful to be had with the project so I am happy to give away the boards. Eventually I will post an etchable layout of just the proximity control in the Etcher's Paradise, too. It's mostly the same as the zVex one but I added two helpful tweaks to it.

General Questions / Re: Deadringer vs Deadringer 2

The DR2 was more my take on the circuit so I used the values I liked in that spot, IIRC. Most of the original trace schematics listed 47k/10n there, I believe.

Gonna be that guy...I'm gonna be grabbing a Freakout but i was also wondering if the Attack Decay was going to be restocked soon. Thanks Brian. You're the Best!

I'm currently working on the A/D. I should know the status in a few days.

I bought this game called "Capsized" on Steam for like $3. Not the greatest game but wow...the music and art direction are really cool.

I don't have the heart to throw away the abandoned Wumpus boards (probe-ish control with on-board effects) I had made so I've decided to give them all away. Starting today all orders get a free Wumpus board. Doesn't matter how much you order or where you are: if you place an order for anything you get a Wumpus board. This will go until the end of the year (or until I run out of them).

The Wumpus does work - you just can't use the controller plate on top of the enclosure like I planned. So, it's not terribly practical since you need the box and the controller plate in two different places. However, it looks like it can be installed in a 125B instead of the planned 1590BB so that will help. Anyway, I will be posting the complete build doc with suggestions on how to build it in the most practical way. I'll have that up Dec.1st. in the Extra Projects section.

I do hope some people will build it. It's cool! Plus it has options to plug it into other effects. I just don't see myself re-doing the project since I have so many others going on right now.

I'm more of a weekend muon detector guy.

What are muon about?

Just that I stand by my principles even though sometimes I'm uncertain about them.

I feel like these puns are becoming unstable.

Something, something, Schrödinger's cat! Haha, am I smart?

You are very intelligent....by design.

All those parts and it doesn't even light up?

But, very cool indeed!

I'm wondering, I'm close to boxing up the Tiger, which is one of the Patreon boards (and the new VFE footprint), is it OK to post here?

Sure, MBP is basically the kind-of official tech support for the Patreon stuff. Although I have to admit I have not had time to build the two Patreon projects I have gotten. But anything related to VFE obviously has a home here.

Brian,

Are you going to do some cyber monday stuff?

Nah. But, there might be a big giveaway coming up for the month of December.

It should work up to 12v without any issue. At 15v there might be some adjustments needed to the clock but it's been so long since I touched the CL I don't remember. But, as long as the 15v is regulated there is no harm in trying it.

I grew up in N.W. DC and I love the city. I would live there now if an average human being could afford it. It was a little more sane in the late 80's early 90's.

No advice other than take full advantage of all it has to offer. The museums, the Metro, all the other sites. It is an amazing place. The weather is generally pretty good although it does get pretty humid in August/Sept. The winters are pretty nice. Course, it's been so many years since I lived there all this might be different now.

VFE Projects / Re: Tractor Beam - all buttoned up.
November 25, 2017, 10:40:23 PM
The 1k43 are not critical. They could just as easily by 1k5. Or 1k4. Using a 200k trim is okay so long as you keep the overall volume level under control. Turn it up too much and it will distort a lot. But, a 200k might make it harder to find the sweet spot since the range it works correctly over is reduced by a factor of 10. Anyway as long as you have it working properly then that's what counts.

First thing I would look at it making sure you have used 1.43k (or closest value to it) where it says and that your trimmer is actually 20k (not 2k, etc). The output section is really simple so either the resistors going in or the trimmer are to blame for too low a signal.
