Good news - I'll be getting a large enough batch of controllers next week so I can put the Merman back on schedule.

Actually one other I should be able to do once I get the new store going is an opt-in email alert. So, that would be another source.

For us that are Anti-Facebook and Twitter, any chance you announce it in the main forum here? Pretty Please!

For goodness sake, I announce new releases in Global Announcements every time!

Luckily, I checked back to this thread today and just placed an order.
:)

Facebook and Twitter always gets an announcement at the same time when I release anything so that's another way to find out.

VFE Projects / Re: 125B question

I was thinking of doing another drill guide for using it with non-mounted jacks for 1590B. I could include one for 125B as well. With 125B you might be able to do top-mounted jacks.

I know the newer VFE pedals use the new 1590BS which is the same size as 1590B but with the height of a 125B for top mounted jacks.

Global Annoucements / More Choral Reef coming today
August 02, 2017, 01:11:04 PM
There seems to be some frustration with the Choral Reef release and I can understand that. So, I'm going to put off releasing the Merman for a couple more weeks until I can get more micro-controllers and make more of the CR available now instead. I am sorry that these releases have been in small batches that go quickly...to a large degree this is beyond my control due to limited stock of needed parts, not PCBs. But, I'll do my best to please everyone when I can :)

I'll update this thread once they are available in the store plus make an announcement on Facebook and Twitter. It should be between 11am-12pm CST.

Try this - remove IC1. Now measure the voltage on pin5 in the socket. Are you getting 4.5v there? If not, R53 or R54 is the problem. If you do get 4.5v there and then it drops when you re-insert IC1, then something connected to the VB rail is off (refer to the schematic for all the components connected to VB).

Just to elaborate a bit on Jon's excellent post - re-biasing depends partially on whether or not you are coupling different stages with a cap. When not coupling, DC offset might play a factor esp. when going between two different IC types. But it really depends on how it's being done. At the same time, there is a lot of forgiveness in pedal designs so sometimes you can get away with things an engineer would frown upon.

Paul, I am very sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope things will work out for the best for you and your family and that you will find the balance you need!

Jesus Brian how many reef's did you order, didnt u run out of stock early on the first 2 VFE project, no lessons learnt hmm....lol when can i get 1 dude?

The first two batches of AD and PH ran out because of the limited stock on the W1MC pot I had. As I mentioned in the first post I only had 30 Choral Reefs available since I am running low on micro-controllers. I'll be getting more controllers ASAP so I'll have plenty more in stock as soon as that happens.

Feel free to add links here to vendors with MN3008 and I will put them in the doc.

Should be noted that Steve at Smallbear has the MN3008's and a lot of them.  Downside...$20 a pop.  Ouch.  Fair market value.

Ahh, I wasn't aware of that. That's good news.

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I am out of W1MC pots used in the Alpha Dog and Pale Horse and will not be getting any more in the foreseeable future. A 1MB should be used as a substitute. I have updated those build docs to include this information and provided a link to the 1MB pot at smallbear.

The Choral Reef has no special pots included so the shipping price for Canada and International are just the regular postage cost ($3 and $4 resp.) I only have 30 Choral Reef available right now. There will be more coming, however, I am starting to run low on micro-controllers and I need to hold some back for the Merman (and the small batch of AD and PH I put back in stock).

I'll have a Choral Reef demo done this week.
