I finished sooner than expected. The Choral Reef will be available tomorrow. The build doc is already up.

The Choral Reef will be out this week...probably in a couple of days. I'll put more Alpha Dog and Pale Horse up at the same time. The next VFE project will be the Merman and it will come out a week or so after that.

Not mentioned in the build doc, but am I correct in assuming that the external input can also be used to connect the tapanatorator? All in all, it is just driving an LED ...

I hooked it up to the Tapanator early on and honestly it didn't do a whole lot for me. However, I did make some changes to the Mandroid after that. I'll check that out this week and report back. I probably need to just spend a little more time dialing it in.

Audio/Video Demos / Re: Mandroid Demo

There are a lot of possible settings. Some are more musical than others, obviously. Not sure how well I demonstrated that but hey I tried!

You don't have to wire the switch for a simple test to see if it works. Hook the input as normal. For the output, test the yellow wire and then the green wire you see on the wiring diagram for output. This will let you know you have audio coming out of both outputs (buffered and effect).

Here is the completed pedal. Very nice chorus indeed. A bit unusual in some ways, too.

Audio/Video Demos / Mandroid Demo
July 29, 2017, 04:02:42 PM
Here's the demo for the Mandroid in all its robot glory. For most of the demo I am using the middle foot-switch to toggle through the modes instead of the rotary switch (more details in the doc). Bit hard to completely demonstrate the Splode control by hand rather than by foot but there's enough there to get the idea (about half-way through the video). I had the FDIN and FDOUT trimmers set about halfway up and the GAIN trimmer about 1/3rd up for the entire video.

Scheisse. So much for my big idea.

Quick question on the rob/vin switch.  It looks like on the build doc that you only need one of them, or do you need both?

Only one and connected to the VIB pad and GND. On power up, the HT8950 defaults to ROB mode and the momentary switch will change it to VIB mode. Press it again and it goes back to ROB mode and so on. On that momentary toggle I used, I connected the VIB pad to the middle lug and ground to the two outside lugs (just so I could push the switch either way to toggle between the two modes)..but that was a special case just for that particular switch. A regular pushbutton only has two contact points.

How much dosh are u making Brian

Not really sure what that means....I'm just a southern boy after all.

Finished Mandroid. Demo should be up in a day or two. I used an old momentary toggle switch I bought from Frys years ago for my ROB/VIB switch. It's aactually (off) ON (off) so I just wired ground to the two outside positions.

I made a few updates on the Mandroid doc -

- Modified the drill template. I changed this because when I made it I forgot to take a measurement on one of the momentary pushbutton switches I linked in the doc. So, I had to move the drill spot for that (pos1). Also, I moved the DC JACK to the side because I think it will make it much easier to build...esp. if you do not use the Lumberg style slim jacks.
- Added a note about offsetting PCB mounted pots due to the height of the Alpha rotary switch
- Corrected the image showing where to put the ring tab on the rotary switch (as in now it shows the correct place!)
- A couple minor corrections on the voltages chart.

Please download the newest versions of the doc and drill template and use those instead.

1uF/10k rolls off starting at 16Hz and 10uF/10k at 1.6Hz. Both are below threshold of hearing.

It was at least one of these

I'm not saying I bought one, but I'm also not saying I didn't not buy one.
