We're purged. Cue all the emails and PMs asking why their registration was deleted. Answer: "You got Holy Handgrenad-ed"!

Open Discussion / Re: Incoming: Bass VI
March 17, 2016, 12:02:33 PM
Thanks. I did end up getting some brass tubing for locking the posts. Interestingly, the 5/16ths size only fit in one post hole...the other one is slightly smaller. So I've only got one in there now. It does keep the bridge perpendicular which raises the break angle of the strings and nearly eliminates the rattle. I think what I'm going to do is put the other one on my dremel or drill press and sand the outer layer to shave off some of the diameter so I can get it in the second post hole.

Still liking the BASS VI except for that minor annoyance.

Open Discussion / That feeling....

That feeling you get when you realize what you forgot to order from Mouser when your package just arrived, and you realize you're going to have to look through a huge pile of old boards to find the part you need and de-solder it. I guess if this is the worst thing that happens in my day I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

And now, this.

Global Annoucements / Upcoming - Registration purge
March 11, 2016, 02:45:26 PM
On 3/19 I will be deleting ALL member registrations with 0 posts. If you are a lurker with no posts, and want to keep your registration simply make a single post so I know you are human and not a bot or spam registration. You can do a throw-away post in this thread or an introduction post her: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?board=61.0

Previously, I have limited registration deletion to 0 posts for members who have not logged in for three or six months. Well, there's over 100 pages of registrations with 0 posts now and frankly I don't want to spend hours going through them trying to figure out who to delete and who not to. Esp. when it takes 5 seconds to make an initial post to show you are human :)

Again, you only need to have ONE post to avoid deletion. One, being a number greater than 0 and less than 2. Two, being a bigger number than 1, is not required to avoid deletion. Three, being a number combined from 1 and 2, shall not be required but is encouraged. Four shall not be a number in consideration of the aforementioned activities. Five, however, will be considered a number in equal merit (though not numerically) to the number 3.

Really sad to hear this. Catalinbread will go on, I'm sure, but this is so tragic. And so random.

OK Brian, you just upped the stakes with the hand wired series.
Sheesh dude they are beautiful. You're killing me.
Did you buy it new?

It's an awful thing when your GAS surpasses your Cash.

I got the v.1 of the hand-wired. I bought it new for about $500 under retail. I think the newer version has a master volume and some other stuff.

Jimi now has more guitars than I do! Maybe I can get more basses than he has :)

I have an AC15 (hand-wired series) with the Blue. It is loud as balls. I really like mine, although I have yet to modify it from stock. 15W on a single 12" speaker should be plenty for any band rehearsal / club gig / studio recording.

General Questions / Re: Kingslayer Fat Switch
March 07, 2016, 02:33:32 AM
I think sticking with omitting C7 is the right thing. Or, you could put in a 1uF there which would probably have the same effect (since it would pass all frequencies). I would leave R10 alone.

If you leave C7 off it basically applies gain to all frequencies, not the one centered at the C8/R10 combo. There is no harm in it. If the 150n cap is to subtle for you I say go for it. Since ground is our bias voltage there is no voltage difference between it and our IC bias voltage, so you won't hear DC across the Gain pot when you turn it (since omitting C7 eliminates coupling). It's actually a good alternative which I never thought of.
