Deadringer JR.
(from a suggestion by Playpunk)
This is the drive side only of the Deadringer2. Some changes were made to the design. The input buffer was dropped and the clipping transistors were changed from IRF510 to 2n7000 (both due to space limitations). The rotary switch for the clipping frequency was changed to a pot a la the Timmy (although the direction was changed so turning it up increases bass rather than decreases it so it works similar to the tone knob). I pushed this one ahead of the other planned releases because it is a good "essential" project and probably the one I will do the full tutorial on (starting that next week).

Not sure if you wanted it or not but I just noticed the "Simple Machines Forum" banner at the top of the page. Never noticed it before.

He's talking about this, up in the top right corner:

Was being facetious. Image now replaced :)

All this being said, I still do plan to offer some component-level kits in the future. May not be for quite a while but I think it will happen eventually. I do not foresee full kits/enclosures a la BYOC et al. ever happening, though. Who knows...I am in this for the long haul and there is a good 20 years before I retire :)

This is only marginally related but here is a little trick to getting some EJ fuzz tones - on a Si Fuzz Face set Q2 bias to about 3v (-3v on a Ge). This compresses the fuzz more and sorta emulates some of those late 80's 'violin' fuzz tones he had.

It turns out what I needed to do was a lot easier than I thought. All the smf files were wiped and re-loaded, the packages re-installed and the database was updated (I think a big problem was the db and smf versions were not matching). I am optimistic that things will be okay from here on out but I won't promise it...we need to see how things go over the next few days. But for sure some major issues were fixed.

At least smf is not throwing out thousands of errors in the logs now. In fact, the only errors are user-related which is freaking good.

This is simply not possible for a one-person operation. Just as an example, check out the huge CNC BYOC uses to do their enclosures (there is a video on youTube). You are talking many thousands of $$ investment on something that is going to have very little return in profit, to be blunt about it.

PS: not that everything I choose to do for MBP is driven by the bottom line...but it's a whole different ballpark when you are doing a task that requires a few hours vs. something that requires hundreds of man-hours to accomplish.

AFAIK, all issues should now be fixed and Tapatalk should be available. Please report any ongoing issues here and I will look into them. We'll see if anything funny happens over the next few days. Let's hope not.

I'm shutting the forum down at 9am CST for the maintenance. I expect it to be back late afternoon/early evening. If it goes longer I will post an update on the Facebook page.

Email notifications were disabled purposely last week. I will have them back when the forum comes back online.

Thanks guys, I have everyone's email so I will hit you up if I need to. You d00ds rule!

On the plus side, I fixed the forum registration issue last night right before I screw up, I mean, fix everything else.
#3477
Excellent thanks guys.

I'm going to change the maintenance to this Saturday. I need more time to prepare and research exactly what I need to do. So, let's plan for Saturday morning instead.

Also, are there any PHPMyAdmin / SQL gurus on here? I remember someone offered help before but I am embarrassed to admit I forget who it was. Asking in case I need a quick email consult....nothing major. I will likely encounter some dumb question I don't know how to answer.

Sure I could check into that.

Tomorrow morning I am going to attempt a fix on the forum to address some of the ongoing problems we are experiencing. There are numerous issues still lingering (problems with search, registration, tapatalk etc). A few other problems I have been able to resolve without interruption but the next step is going to be more drastic. I will be doing a clean install of the smf forum and re-importing the database. This means the forum will be down for several hours while I work on it. During that time the forum will be in Maintenance Mode which means you can get to the main page but you won't see any content. What would make this process even smoother is if everyone could hold off until the evening until trying to log back on, if possible.

Worst case scenario is if I'm not successful we'll end up where we started (nothing will be over-written in this process but I'll still be making backups).
