In this case I would recommend audio probing a couple of key points. Check pin1 of IC1A. It definitely should not be dark there no matter what the gain pot is set to. Now check lug2 of the Clean portion of the gain pot, then both sides of R11 (in both cases where your "dark" setting is at on the gain pot). You could modify some values in those sections to brighten it up, if you find either area to dull the tone up too much.

Possibly, it just doesn't work well stock with your setup. What kind of guitar and amp are you testing it with?

Sweet! Love the knobs.

BC239 have the opposite pinout of 2n5088. You need to flip all four transistors.

These weird names for well known pedals, like Foxx Tone Machine in this instance, are getting ridiculous. I have to look up half of them on the projects page when they get banded about like they mean anything. Can't we just name the pedal by its real name? I know that MB has to give some of them different names for legal names, but for pedals from the 60's?

Nope.  :D
But, you can call it whatever you want.

Interesting. Well, glad it all worked out.

No it doesn't matter.

General Questions / Re: L pad / SW pad?

Same thing. SW seems to confuse some people so I started labeling it L instead.

Yea, sure that crop was an accident!

It really was, haha.

Build Reports / Glasshole - Tap Tempo Phaser
May 14, 2015, 02:09:06 PM
Hey, it's a build report on a project I'm not going to do! Wheee!

I worked on this one last year and just kind of forgot about it until pickdropper started prodding me to box it up and send to him. So, I did! The Glasshole is tap tempo phaser based on the Mutron and uses the TAPLFO chip. It has a 6/8 stage switch plus an optional secondary optical output to drive another modulation effect. Overall, this thing sounds pretty great. I was more impressed with it once I boxed it up then when I initially tested it last year. You can get fairly standard phaser sounds as well as some wacky time shift stuff and even hints of an envelope based filter type sound. While I don;t think this will be an MBP project since someone else is already doing a similar thing, I probably will release the other project I proto'd at the same time, the Tapanatorator. That one is just the LFO and tap tempo controls with up to four independent outputs. So, you could build a trem, phaser, vibrato, etc and have them all sync to one tap tempo controller.

Here's the goods:

Whoops I just noticed my cropping on the left side of the image was not ideal!

Voltages are way off. You need to pull the two TL072s first and re-measure. If the voltages are still off you need to check through the entire power supply section to find out why you are not getting +18, -9v.
#3551
Yup. Bottom one is strictly four mounting support.
#3552
The two middle pins seem to be what you want to connect with the outer ones being for mounting I guess. So, however you can wire those two pins with the inductor being stable on the board.

Open Discussion / Re: Road Rage question

The unregulated 18v output will be fairly steady since there is a decoupling cap, so it's not really something to worry about. The regulated output is better for situations were you maximum voltage cannot exceed a certain amount. For example, in an analog delay build where the BBD is limited to 9, 10 or 15v.

Well, I don't exactly own the circuit so it's not my place to say what you do with your layouts. As long as you did not copy my layout for the project then I don't see a problem.
