It's very straight-forward. Plug in the effect to your testing rig. Ensure the PCB has power and the fx input is getting guitar signal. Don't connect the fx output, and use the audio probe to test for output on the components. For IC-based effects, test the inputs and outputs.

For the Sparkplug, this would be pins 3, 1, 5 and 7. You will not hear any signal on pins 2, 6, 4 or 8 (this is normal).

Could be that the theme is outdated vs. the version of smf being used now. I will try to remember to check into updating the themes...smf forum probably needs an update too.

Possibly if C17, 18, 29, 30 or 37 were bad (the decoupling caps on 5v) it could cause the voltage to leak.

When you unboxed it the first time did it still do the feedback?

What IC are you using and can you give us some voltages?

Kinda stumped on this. Do you happen to have an LM7805 instead of the L05?

What about with the regulator in and just the belton brick but not other ICs? What do your voltages look like then? That's the one with the highest current draw, obviously.

If D2 is bad that could certainly mess up things. It's not really necessary---just added protection for the regulator. But, a bit of overkill too.

Try these two things: remove D2 and/or jumper out R33. See if either of those fixes your issue. If not, possibly another regulator.

I somehow thought they would be, my bad, sorry. But no worries, everyone is happy now that we know that these will be available again.

Well, if anyone got that impression it is a failure of communication on my part so thank you for speaking up. I do appreciate the feedback. Going forward I'll be more exact in my descriptions in the Short Run stuff including whether or not they will be in stock fully at some point. And really, some "limited editions" are likely in the future for some projects...like a run of 50 once or twice a year. I'll never be able to fund ALL the projects I want to do and keep them permanently in stock cause there are a lot still coming!

I never said they were limited editions, Tremster. I thought I was pretty clear about this the whole way through.  :-\ But, perhaps a different choice of language is necessary in the future.

I've added in the voltages on the Dirtbaby doc. Please take a moment to re-download it if you want the info:

Sure you will. These are just leftover prototype PCBs sold at a discount. The real thing will come soon enough, believe me. I put in a ton of work on the Laserwolf so it will be back in quantity as soon as I can afford to run a batch.

Wow, this is as intense as enrolling in overrun courses at university :D
Weird enough, I still see the order buttons...

Anyways, thanks for doing this Brian. Happy holiday sale!

Any idea, when the cave troll will be available? :)

I've updated the page now to remove the order buttons. It had to be done manually.

Yes, the Cave Troll will be worked on the next few days and I will try to have it ready later on in the week.

There were less than 10 of each of those so it isn't too surprising.

Not to worry, guys. I will get more of each of them soon enough. The short runs are just a way for me to give a few people a jump on the gun while getting a discount. It's pretty much going to always go down like that, I suspect.
