Build Reports / Re: Moodring

Here is the completed Sparklehorn build. The interior work is kinda meh. I had to do a few de-solders and replacement so the board got a bit cruddy. But, hey.

Mods / Sparklehorn 2014 - more delay mix
August 28, 2014, 12:40:37 AM
Just finished up my SH build and I realized that some people might want a little more delay output on their builds. With the stock value it's just a hair above unity. Sometimes it's good to have a bit more especially for slapback. If you want to increase the output of the delay Mix control, simply lower R18 from 12k to something like 6k8 or 8k2. A socket is appropriate.

Also, one thing I think I did not mention in the build doc: when you have the MIX control very high (3/4 up to full) you may hear some delay under the OD even when it is bypassed. There is actually no way to get around this in this "tails" type application. The OD section feeds through the MIX and FEEDBACK controls in reverse which then goes through the delay about back out. It's really not that bothersome, but please understand this is a consequence of this particular design and it only happens when the MIX is very high.

Just finished the Sparklehorn build up today, so now I can demo both tomorrow. Sorry for the wait...but I had to get the SH finished up.

Man, I am so sorry to read this. That is just awful. I agree that there probably is some federal statute in play here. Maybe contact your state AG?

Do you do financing? :-D

Shit, at the rate I'm going I'm the one who is going to need financing. I've dropped serious cash this year on manufacturing. Partly because of all the "2014" versions I released of older projects. Luckily, I won't be doing that every year! So, I feel your pain.  8)

I didn't know there was a forum for 4ms. If your question is about the Tremulus Lune, I bet there are 50 people here that can answer questions :)

My Brother has no problem at all with toner transfer.

Mine does. At least with bonded (glossy) magazine paper. Works real shitty.  ;D

On mine, I run PNP Blue and never more than a half sheet (taped to a regular copy paper). I've never had a printer that will successfully run an entire sheet of PNP through. Don't know nuttin about no magazine paper.

These are the projects I am trying to finish Oct-Dec:

Attack Decay
Polyphase
Frequency Analyzer
One sub-mini amp
One sub-mini OD
Dig Dig2
Mandroid (crazy little thing it is)
Rabbit Punch (ABY)
Man O War (analog delay)
Peacekeeper
Bombtrack (OC-2)
Cave Troll (tap tempo delay)
Quadrovibe 2

A big list, but every single one is already in the process of prototyping and debugging. Four per month should be doable.

He deleted them a while ago. I imagine he got tired of people asking when the new stuff was coming out and decided to stick to stuff that was imminent. :)

Mostly this. Not so much tired of people asking as much as feeling frustrated that things are not moving as quickly as I would like (as well as everyone else).

Not to worry: the Attack Decay will be here for the fall, one way or another.

General Questions / Re: Fatboost 3 Clone w/mid scoop?
August 25, 2014, 12:41:15 AM
First the pedal will probably have to be traced. I don't know if that has ever been done.
Possibly, you could just figure out the cap responsible for the Bass boost and switch it for a smaller value. But, it depends on what kind of tone stack is in there.

2262 or 2272 is fine. These are different than the TLC272, which is what I was using in the prototype. Easy to confuse given the numbering is so similar.

What Bean said, but I use cut off resistor leads for this.

Yup, even better.
Lately I have been using 22g buss wire. There is nothing I hate more than stripping and soldering wires.

Chris,

You can still use the lug pots. Just make small wires to go between the pots and pads on the PCB as if they were mounting pins. I do this all the time when I run out of right angle mounted ones. And, they are very stable this way.
