@Brian

How long does it take you to etch that size faceplate? That's a LOT of copper coming off  :o

About 10 minutes. I use a less potent acid so it takes longer. But, it doesn't smell bad!

Thanks for all the kudos! It's looking like tomorrow or Thursday for doing the demo. I should have some more 125B coming so I'm going to try to sneak in the Sparklehorn as well. Then its back to all the stuff I gotta get ready for September.

I pulled a real boner here. I linked the wrong DPDT switch in the build doc. The one linked is not the correct size.

The correct switch should be this one: http://www.smallbearelec.com/servlet/Detail?no=1392

I am really sorry for the mistake. Hopefully I did not screw too many people up. I will update the project doc right away.

I'll do a video demo on Monday. I think I figured out the dry kill issue, too. Just need to wire the switch in parallel to the 3pdt so it shorts on bypass. Woohoo!

Don't know what the issue is. I can type klone and mojo just fine.  ;D

Build Reports / Moodring
August 16, 2014, 03:53:15 PM
Here's the completed Moodring build. I am really happy with the effect. I am less happy with sanding off the edges of the artwork and not being more careful with where I put the jacks. But, it fits and it works...so good enough for DIY.

I did wire this one up as non-true-bypass. Switching the reverb on and off is completely silent and the reverb decays over the clean signal when turned off. Just what I wanted. One thing I did not think all the way through is that in NTB wiring, the dry kill..uhh...kills your signal completely! This just means you cannot use the dry kill on the fly. Not an issue with true bypass wiring though. Maybe I can think of a solution for that using a DPDT with the dry kill. I'll see.

Fender Output Jack...only $6.49!

Do they have any decent piezo pickups for electric? I've been wanting to add one of my guitars for a while. I like the sound of an unplugged electric layered in with the amped sound.

Moodring is now available for order.

The project doc will go up tomorrow. I have one last tweak to check before making the doc. The Moodring sounds great! Hopefully worth the wait for everyone.

There's a diagram of how to hook up the dc jack? Huh....

The wiring on this project is different than the standard, so I figured it best to include a full diagram.

I had the 9v wire connected to the wrong lug on the DC Jack in the wiring diagram. This has been corrected and the PDF has been re-uploaded.

we are waiting, but do we have a release date yet?

It's going to be October at this point. August and Sept. is going to be like 90% Function F(x) for me. So, the plan is in October I will start to modify the website design a bit and upload batches of the Etcher's Paradise at intervals of a week or so.

Hey quick question...  since a lot of these projects already have older build docs, and it's the build docs and layouts that are being updated, but not the circuits themselves, that means I can start putting together a shopping list from the current BOMs available, right?  I mean, the resistors and caps and ICs aren't changing are they?

Yes and no. A few projects have been expanded beyond their previous versions which may include some new parts. But, the majority of them do not have any radical circuit changes. One thing that is different is that nearly every project now uses the 1N5817 polarity protection diode instead of the 1N4001 to ground method that the old ones did. I tried to make the projects very consistent with each other in terms of PS filtering and how the layouts are arranged. In any case, it is a safe bet that if you are using previous projects as a guide on BOM that it will be fine.

Thanks for the update Bean. Also, can you please add tap to the moodring  ;)

I think tap would interfere too much with the crystal lattices and haunting mid-range  :P
