Build Reports / Re: Harbinger One - first build
July 14, 2014, 12:28:08 AM
Good work, mang. That is a difficult build and you did it as your first non-kit..impressive. We'll be expecting great things from you in the future :).

I have had one get really hot when in backwards, enough to potentially hurt a solder joint nearby.

That's a good point. If left in there long enough and it gets hot enough I suppose a trace or pad might lift from a PCB. But, you'd have be be trying pretty hard to make that happen.

Dave will soon become an absentee father whilst he plays laser tag over at our other partner's house.

Probably not. I have reversed many ICS in my day and not once has it ever damaged another component.

Finally stuffed this box.

Also: Harbinger 2 will be in that group (Univibe in a wah shell).

Here is what your contributions helped make happen. Thank you thank you thank you. This is pretty huge.

Also, here is what the Fall is looking like:

All EHX projects (Polyphase, Attack Decay, Bad Stone), OC-2, sub-mini tube amps projects and overdrives, a couple new delays (analog and digital and at least one tap tempo), Dig Dug, Rabbit Punch (A/B/AB), Mandroid and a couple misc designs. I have enough worked on already to last well into 2015 beyond those, too.

I want to round out 2014 in a BIG way with some new and challenging projects, so those of you who have been waiting: I haven't forgot. I promise I will do my best to deliver some of of these long anticipated projects.

And, since I am thinking about it: we still have not officially "celebrated" the 5 year mark for MBP, so I will figure out something before the year is up.

Global Annoucements / Next release dates for summer
July 11, 2014, 11:23:01 PM
Since I'm getting emails everyday now, multiple times a day, here are the projected release dates for the rest of the summer. The July and August releases are firm (+/- a couple days). The Sept. releases may change a bit depending, but that's pretty close to what it will be. Possibly I will be able to get one of the other EHX projects in Sept.

8Ball, Afterlife, Egghead, Hipster, Mudbunny, Rangemaster, Tonebender: July 28th
Chunk Chunk, Zero Point DD, Kingslayer II, Stage Fright, Moodring, Sparklehorn, Sunking II: August 1st-ish.
Double Flush, FatPants, Karate Shop, Cave Dweller, Dirtbag 3, ZPSDX2 and Snow Day: early Sept.

General Questions / Re: Securing the board

I've been using the 3M double sided foamie stuff that is meant for hanging stuff on walls. It's been really solid for me so far.

Pretty much this for me. Except in the case of PCB mounted pots where I use the plastic covers. The pins keep the board secured and the covers provide all the support needed. But, for free floating I just use the foam tape stuff. That's okay for DIY but I would not want to do it for a commercial production (the exception being Barber pedals which use the tape thing very effectively).

Build Reports / Doubel Ganger - build thread
July 11, 2014, 04:13:58 PM
I'm starting a build thread for my Doubel Ganger. My board is mostly populated but not finished yet. I've decided not to board mount any of the pots or switches to try a different layout. Also, I'm going to do toggles for the LFO Mode and Phase / Vib switch so there is only one footswitch. Lastly, I think I will ditch the spectral bypass option since I don't see needing it.

Here is my scratch artwork so far. I'm thinking an enclosure etch for this. The Genghis image is actually clipart, I think. I filled in areas with black to give it more contrast and pop a bit. I'm digging the look of this.

If they are fake then they won't work most likely. In anything. Unless they are re-labeled v3205 in which case you could use them in the ABDX. The only way to know is to pop them in a working circuit and find out.

I played drums in a couple of bands and bass in two other bands for about three years.

Yes, verify that you have 5v on pin1 of the PT2399 and 0v on pin3. Then verify that you have about 9v on pin8 of IC1 and 0v on pin4.
