General Questions / Re: Mangler 2014 Question
April 15, 2014, 12:56:07 AM
It does help if you have a some noise, at the stated value will not impact tone. However, you can increase the value to smooth fuzzes out a bit. That's more important in silicon than germanium, but since there was room on the board....

You probably do not want to go higher than 33pF unless you want the smoothing. But, omitting it is okay too.

Yay! Are the April 15th boards still on target? The lack of Wieners is the only thing keeping me from hitting "buy" for the last week.

I don't have shipping notification on it, so it's not for sure they will be here in time. However, I am planning on having another sale next month for the 5 year anniversary, so at the very least there will be another opportunity. This one is to cover my a$$ (let's just say I overspent on manufacturing costs in the last 2 months, haha).

Just cause we can....

Bean, is that really the box for the fuzz, or is the proto just in Pickdropper's leftover Companion enclosure? Because that knob is mighty close to being stompable.

Yeah that's just for my personal build. Those chicken heads won't work without some adjustments as pickdopper said...they actually run into one another. I don't care though...it looks cool!

On 04.15.14 I will do a massive purge of "zero-post" members. Any registered member who has not made at least one post on the forum will have their account deleted. We have some 3000 non-posting members here and it is too much of a task to try and figure out if someone is visiting the forum regularly but not posting (obviously I would rather not delete those accounts but I don't have 10 hours to figure it out). So, I'll be using an axe instead of a scalpel to clean the forum up.

If you are registered but have never posted, please make at least one post to avoid deletion. There is a new sub-forum to introduce yourself, if you like.

General Questions / Re: Spark plug wiring question

It is for wiring to the + of the LED. R16 is the current limiting resistor so you do not need to add a resistor.

Mods / Re: Stage Fright Mod Ideas

I have listened to it in 'vibrato' mode and it sounds good that way. Quite an accident: the first prototype omitted R40!

Fast/Slow switch sounds intriguing. May put two 22uF in parallel with C15/16 offset by a large resistor? If you did this on a switch to short the resistor, I think it might ramp down gradually, which would sound cool.

No kit plans for now. This is an actual booteek pedal company.

We've been pretty quiet but also very busy. Some products got shelved, and new ones have taken their place. We're really very close to the manufacturing stage now.

Global Annoucements / Re: Restocks/Documents

There will definitely be a sale coming up in May. That is the 5th anniversary of MBP, so we will do it up proper.

Global Annoucements / Restocks/Documents

Restocks, new boards are available for the Mangler, Retrograde, Cupcake, Runt, Bacon Bits, Bloviator and 3PRR. All the documentation has been uploaded, too.

The order for the next set was placed a few days ago. These will be here probably no later than April 20th. They are the Sunking II, Kingslayer2014, NomNom, Zero Point Micro, Zero Point Mini, Deadringer 2, Naughty Fish, WeenerWah2 and Kraken.

I'll start work on the next set in a few days. Those will come late May, most likely.

If you Photoshop, these will come in handy for making drill templates and doing artwork. Included are my templates for the 125B, 1590A, 1590B, 1550, 1590BB, and N1. These are 300DPI but can easily be scaled up. I usually work in 1200DPI for artwork.

Do you have photoshop?

This idea was brought to my attention and I think it is a good one. There are many people here that are affiliated in a professional capacity with businesses related not only to pedal building but instruments, amps, parts, etc. It would be good to know who these people are and the business they may represent or work with. Stating these affiliations serves two-fold: it informs other members of businesses they may not be aware of (as well as provide some free advertising), and also informs them when a member is promoting something they have a financial interest in.

Don't get me wrong: I have NO PROBLEM with people promoting their wares here. I think that is obvious. But, I have not been too diligent in making sure that this kind of information is disseminated to the members here.

Therefore, I am asking that all members who have professional affiliations or financial interests in businesses related to DIY pedal building, pedal manufacturing, instruments, amps, components and the like to put this information in their signature starting now. The Gear Page has a similar rule and it seems to work well. For example, my signature on TGP states "Affiliations: madbeanpedals, Function F(x)".

You don't have to be particular like "I'm sales" or "Owner" or "Punching Bag"...just state the name of the business and indicate that you are involved with them. Obviously, don't violate any NDA's if you have them.

You can edit your signiature by going to the "profile" link up top. Let me know if there are questions.
