General Questions / Re: Kingslayer IC - issues

Don't worry about the suffix N on the chip. Like Jimi said: hot IC means either a solder bridge or it is in backwards.

Jes00s, that is gnarly. I kinda love it.

For breadboarding.
Hey Brian, this one is very cleaver!!

I think Morgan over at BYOC came up with it.

All the projects are designed for 1/4W resistors unless they specifically mention otherwise. The baby board projects use 1/8W for the most part.

I've read almost every Michael Crichton book.
I have read autobiographies of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Bruce Campbell.
I cried at the end of Battlestar Galactica. Also, M.A.S.H.
I have started the LOTR books many times but can't get through them. Also, I've started Don Quixote probably 5 times and always quit around page 100. Same with Les Miserables.
I love everything Simple Minds did in the 80's except for that Breakfast Club song, which sucks compared to their other material.

i go gaga over redheads, i don't know what it is but they drive me out of my mind.  i've never loved one though, it's always been brunettes.

Truth. My "one that got away" was a redhead. She dumped me...twice! We're still friends though. PS I love my wife in case she is reading this.

I love this:
Quote1) I change songs lyrics to make them about my dog and sing them around the house

I thought of a couple more:
#4 - I spend about 30 minutes a day just petting our dogs.
#5 - I used to read two books a week but now I never read anymore because I have a tablet (which I can't stand reading a book on).
#6 - Up until around 10y.o., I thought every adult could read my mind and my life was being watched like a movie 24 hours a day (I blame Catholicism for this).

For fun. Put in your silly, non-consequential confessions here. Please, keep it light.

#1 - I hate reality TV (most TV, actually) but I LOVE Shark Tank. I think it is hilarious. Plus, I think it would be awesome to be an inventor or venture capital type guy.
#2 - When I feel down, a quick visit to cuteoverload.com makes my day infinitely better.
#3 - I secretly wish I could write a sci-fi novel or produce/write a comedy-horror film.

If it had a hoodie mask too all the better. What a way to embarrass the wives and girlfriends (hopefully not at the same time).

So, I think the idea of a silk-screened "soldering cape" is pretty damn genius and I would totally put that in the store. But, I have not had much luck finding anyone doing custom screen capes. Mostly, it's just kid superhero stuff.

It has been pointed out that the Shopping List for the Sparkplug rev.1 project only indicated one (1) IRF510 mosfet when in fact it should be two (2). This has been corrected and the document re-uploaded to the website.

I'll give it a try too. I have not ordered the SK2 boards yet, so there's still a chance to incorporate another mod.

BTW: I found a mod I like a lot: in addition to changing the tone cap from 3n9 to 5n6, there is a 1k8 resistor in the tone section. Change that to 10k and it moves the neutral position of the treble knob more toward the center. You get less treble boost at the max position, and more treble cut at the min position. I'm going to incorporate this into the next Kingslayer.

What you've done is remove the 390pF from the feedback loop of the gain stage. No need to make a trace cut, just omit C8.

However, there is a downside here: omitting that cap completely means there is no high frequency filtering, which may lead to noise or possible oscillation if you max all the knobs. That may not be your experience, but it's worth mentioning it in case some else wants to try it.

What I suggest here is using a DPDT or SPDT toggle and switch between the stock C8 and either no cap or something much smaller, say 10pF. That way you get essentially the same tones but a tiny bit of HF filtering at the same time.

Sure. Think of them as voltage taps or outputs. Ground is ground, and one output is 9v and the other is 15v. You can use them at the same time. The only limitation is how much current your load draws, i.e. your circuit doesn't draw more than the mA available.
