It really isn't necessary, IMO. Whether you are using PCB mounted pots, or wired pots, all you need to do is provide a little cushion on the back of the pot casing to keep the PCB rock solid. A little double sided 3M foam tape does the trick. IOW, I recommend this over drilling into the PCB every day of the week.

I'm not international so I don't receive this benefit but I just want to give you major props for doing this. Nice one.

On another note, I won't be able to order anything until I get paid at the first of the month, will there still be boards available?

There should be leftovers. We'll figure out what to do with those when the time comes, but yeah I expect you will be able to.

Global Annoucements / Fundraiser PCB shipping status
November 21, 2013, 12:34:45 AM
First off, thanks to everyone that has ordered the boards and donated so far. We are getting toward our goal and I think we will make it by Dec. 1st!

Second, after our meeting last night we discussed the problem with one of the SMD parts for the NoMojo fuzz not being available for some international customers (the three 47uF caps). So, we decided we are going to include those for the international orders only. The caps have been ordered from Mouser and will be here by Saturday. I expect we'll have all the international orders shipped by Monday assuming the caps arrive on time. A bit of a delay, but I think it will be worth the wait.

The domestic orders up to date should all be shipped tomorrow!

I see a jumper on the PigButt... so I am taking it its single sided and I am getting very excited. I just got a copper clad order in and I am patiently waiting. lol.

Yes. All these layouts are single sided.

Other long-talked-about, no-showin projects will finally surface. I'm up to 65 layouts completed now.

Sounds good to me!

Open Discussion / Re: Why called boost not overdrive?
November 16, 2013, 06:17:04 PM
Boosts are a subset of overdrives. They are overdrives without attenuation (master volume). Most of the time they don't have tone controls, either. Of course, there are always exceptions....there's no real rules everyone follows.

I disagree. The contradition is right there: if there's not much value then why use it?
And I can think of many good reasons for staying anonymous.

I think his point was that there is no value in a name in terms of someone exploiting that information. The value to us is quite different. But, there is no reason to make anyone uncomfortable so I expect we'll figure out an alternate way of saying thanks.

Huh, I had no idea. I never actually looked at the Ursa Minor. That looks like a neat little boost.

Can't wait! Is the PCB package on a first come first serve basis? Or will you reorder more, if needed, until Dec 1?

I'm pretty sure we will have enough for everyone. It's hard to predict what the demand will be, but I'm sure we can get some more if we run out.

About two more hours at the most. Page is almost built.

41 projects done so far. Some new things you guys have never seen in there. Still having fun!

As I mentioned here, I'm redesigning a lot of the old etching projects to bring them up to my current standards. However, this doesn't have to be limited to things I've done. What are some projects you etchers would like to see available? Make some suggestions and they just might happen. I'm feeling over-confident :)

We've got our project docs mostly together. I expect everything will be live by mid-afternoon tomorrow.
