The slam switch won't work without repeats, so that is to be expected. The issue is likely to be the feedback pot, C48 or R41. If you are audio probing, them check lug 3 and 2 of the FDBK pot. If you hear the delay there but not after C48, then C48 is the problem.

The voltage is supposed to fluctuate in the TL062...that's the modulation :)

Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: Harbinger One BOM Problem

You won't find a TO-92 J201 on Mouser. It is no longer in production (although pedal builders still use them). If you just need the one, PM your address and I will send you one. But, I do advise getting some on hand for future builds. You can still get them in quantity on smallbear and eBay.

Also, in the case of the Harbinger, you could use a 2n5457, or similar JFET. It's only used as a buffer.

Open Discussion / Re: Zero point DD pcb layout for etching
September 26, 2013, 03:49:38 PM
Single sided etching artwork comes about when I either start a project off that way (to make my own prototype) or after the fact (I do a double sided layout first and then a single sided for the etchers). In some cases, the circuits are really complex and I don't bother doing a single sided layout. The DD and Micro are not terribly complex, but considering their form factor (1590B and 1590A) there is no way I could see keeping a single sided layout to those sizes. I could do etching layouts for them in larger sizes, but I think it's fair for me to reserve a few projects here and there as "fabbed boards" only.

There is no single sided layout for the DD. Actually, none of the Zero Points have single sided layouts.

Someone pointed out to me that the Kingslayer doc seemed to link to the SMD version of the TLC274 rather than the through hole. On the original link, it pictures an SMD now but the specification lists it as PDIP and through hole.

So, I've updated the link to another variety of the TLC274 on Mouser which should be fine for the build.

Flip is actually for the Gear Pagers so they can re-sell it faster.

Total shite from me. Going all the way back to 2004, no less! This was number 3, actually...don't have pics of the first two.

The names of the three fundraiser PCBs are the Grease Gun (overdrive by me), NoMojo (dual fuzz by Dave), and DuoVibe (vibe/phaser by Forrest). We've each built all three and they sound reeeeallly good.

Here is an unsatisfying teaser for one of the product prototypes done by Pickdropper. Can't show the rest yet.

I'm glad you like it! It is a simple circuit, but you can easily do a dozen variations of it that sound good. Probably why I release a new version every year  :)

Obviously, it will work without R6. I typically put some small current limiting resistor on the outputs of circuits by habit. It's impact is very small, so it's safe to omit it if you want.

Look again: R6 and R7 do not make a voltage divider. R7 pulls double duty: setting output impedance for the buffer, and as a signal limiter before the subsequent gain stage. It also grounds the input of the gain stage in buffer mode. This seemed to be the most economical way to arrange the circuit at the time.

You don't have to include R1 and R2 in the buffered mode, but you do need to include C1. Without it you will have DC on your guitar volume pot.

Low end attenuation is a good idea in a boost, IMO. There is no reason to boost down into subs. It just makes it muddy.

General Questions / Re: Sharkfin parts question

BAT41 diodes will work fine.
Voltage rating should be 25v.
You should use 1/4W resistors. You can use 1/8W but it is not necessary. Don't use 1/2W.

Thanks again for the well wishes. The fundraiser will come in October. We should also be giving you some small product development teasers soon. I'd like to show folks around here a bit more of what goes into starting a pedal company. It could be a good teaching moment in a manner of speaking.

I hope to show a little drop in circuit for more control over the Slam switch soon. I have a few things I've tinkered around with. It would be something small enough to build on perf (maybe three or four components).
