Are you sure it is not a problem with the testing set up?

Not exactly what you are asking, but the same general idea.

Yeah, I'm sure it is hundreds of thousands to tool up for making a proper clone. Probably more. EHX put their money in the BL3208, so you can at least expect those to be around for a good long while. Which is fine because they are better anyway.

It's simply a matter of diminishing returns for through-hole designs. Not just in BBD technology, but lots of other types of components. If there is a 'tipping point' we probably already crossed it!

Thanks! I'm glad people appreciate the extra effort.

Thanks. It should be (2) 22k resistors. I've made the correction on the doc.

Thanks for the catch.  I updated the doc. It should be (10) 47k and (16) 4k7 resistors.

And BTW, www.bitcheslovemyswitches.com. This guy doesn't play around with his orders.

I was a little disappointed with my recent order of DC jacks--it's shipping 1st Class even though the shipping cost is equivalent to Priority. Considering you can get the Priority boxes for free from USPS it doesn't make sense.

Just to follow up on this - Lawrence emailed me after reading my post and apologized for not sending the order Priority. I think this was very nice of him to do--shows great dedication to customer service :)

Sorry to hack this thread and to ask this, but Brian, how is it going with the harbinger2 project? and do you have an ideia of when it will be ready? Cause i've got here a wah shell just waiting for it! =)

I don't have much to say about it yet other than the layout is mostly done. I would expect at least another month or so.

dumb followup question--so when you create Harbinger 2 for the wah it could possibly be boxed and have an exp though correct?

It depends on the final dimensions of the PCB. It looks like it may be about 2.6x3.5. So, assuming you can fit that in a 1590BB, you will also need to add a jack for the expression control.

No, the Harbinger won't have a expression pedal hookup. The Harbinger Two will be a Univibe designed expressly for a wah shell. It will have most of the same design as One, except the speed control will use a vactrol in place of the dual pot control that the classic Univibe requires.

Well, if you are reading 0v on the 9v pad then it is possible you have connected the power incorrectly. Can we see some pics of the build, please?
#4918
Seems likely that you are not getting power to the PCB. Are you reading 9v on the 9v pad? What about at R19 and R20 (the VB and VA supplies).

Global Annoucements / April Sale - Project Sunsets
March 20, 2013, 03:53:27 PM
Starting on April 1, and coinciding with the release of the next batch of boards, the MBP store will have a sale. There are a few projects which I am planning on discontinuing and I will be doing some really nice discounts for the remaining stock. I'm discontinuing these in favor of opening space to replace them with newer projects.

As most of you know, I'm at a point where I have more projects planned and/or ready to go than I can afford to manufacture AND maintain the current stock of PCBs. The upper threshold for this is about 50 projects, which we are getting very close to now. So, to make room for what I have planned, like the EHX stuff, some new overdrives, a bunch of the hold overs from last year and the sub-mini stuff I'm working on I think it's a good idea to draw down on some of the older projects. This will help keep moving MBP forward with new and exciting releases while taking off some of the financial pressure.

I'm announcing this now so it is not a surprise (like you place an order on 3.31 only to see something go on sale on 4.1)!

On April 1, these projects will go on sale and will be discontinued once the stock is depleted:
Snarkdoodle, Lavache, EgoDriver, Pepperspray, Thunderpuss

I don't have the prices yet--you'll just have to wait and see :)

Open Discussion / Re: Zero Point Breakout Board
March 19, 2013, 04:49:11 PM
It's really simple: the rotary switch part is part of the design and the dimension layer is simply routed around it so that the two boards are connected by the little tab. Most fab houses should be able to do that...I've done it a couple times with OSH Park prototypes, too.

One thing I will probably do differently in the future is use different rotary switches. There are some smaller Alpha switches available now, although I don't think there is a 1P12T. But, they do have a 1P6T, 2P3T and 2P4T. I'll probably use these in some upcoming projects.

Here's the 2P4T which I am using in a (non-madbean) project: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=SR1712F-0204-20F0A-N9-9virtualkey14860000virtualkey105-SR1712F-24NS
