I'm pretty sure they are all paint to order. I would not worry.

One wire goes to lug three and the other goes to the middle (wiper) in both cases.

Mods / Re: Simple Tails mod for delays.

Yes, I see you point. Perhaps a 1M resistor from the source to VB would be the way to go? That way both sides of the transistor are referenced to the same voltage, then it's decoupled and referenced to the bias output of the PT2399. Or, do you think it should be after the decoupling cap and then the bias point of the PT input would just be higher. I don't know what effect that has since it is awfully close to the supply voltage in value.

Yeah, you could probably do just an SPST in place of the decoupling cap if you don't care about the LED.

Hmm--maybe the SPDT with some kind of millenium bypass?

Yeah, I'm sorry Scruff. I really want to get on the EHX stuff as soon as possible. But, I also have to be realistic in that I have to stick to a certain limit in manufacturing costs. 2k about every 6 weeks is where I am stuck for now unless I raise prices.

Anyway, Stage Fright is 5/6 stage selectable in a 125B. I am quite pleased with it now. You wouldn't think, but the difference between 5 and 6 stages is significant. Also, I'm digging the Univibe cap subs in stages 2-4.

Global Annoucements / Feb 2013 - Final Release Schedule
January 30, 2013, 04:02:38 PM
This is what will be released in February. It will likely be toward the end of the month. The additional delay is due to the manufacturer being closed for a 2 week holiday for the Chinese New Year. But, the order has been submitted.

CaveDweller, Runt, SlowLoris, Bumblebee, Mangler, EgoDriver, and
Bloviator II - new 1590A version!
Egghead - same as the Holiday Giveaway
Hipster - revised to make it slightly smaller to fit in the 1590A better
Aquaboy Deluxe - you know what this is

I had hoped to get the Harbinger in there, too, but I opted for doing more Aquaboy Deluxes so they stay in stock for a while.

The next batch after this will come in March and will for sure include:
Harbinger
Stage Fright (it's finally done)
FatPants - a 2013 version

Anything else listed as "coming soon" on the Projects page may make its way into the March release, too. It depends on what goes out of stock between now and then. The Zero Point SDX is already getting pretty low, so it will likely be included.

As I mentioned before, the mechanical noise of the 3PDT is at fault here. If using an SPDT just for the tails, I found no switching noise at all. For the tails/TB mod, this pop may not be able to be removed.

One possible idea is to place a huge resistor between 9v and the "Tails" lug on the 3PDT. Like 10 or 20 meg. Can't say for sure :(

The monthly contests will not be theme-oriented by default, but maybe we will do that a couple of months.

I like the idea of all the winners being entered in a end of the year 'pedal of the year' contest, too. SOmething to think about.

I'll figure out the rules and entry process and such. It will NOT require using madbeanpedals projects., i.e. no purchase is necessary to enter.

Gah, changed to 2013.

Open Discussion / Let's do monthly contests for 2013
January 29, 2013, 04:17:46 PM
It's way past time to have another build contest here. But, rather than doing a months long thing with a huge prize at the end, I think I would prefer a monthly one with a prize of store credit awarded to the winner.
There are so many amazing builders here now, I think this will be a very fun and rewarding way to keep folks coming here. I'm just constantly blown away by the quality of work being shown!

I can put the mechanics of this together pretty easily with a dedicated forum, rules, submission guidelines, etc. But, here's what I'm not sure of: should the winner be decided by vote or by a panel of judges? What do you think is the best approach?

I guess the thrust of my desire to have some of it online is that it can be more of a "living document". IOW, when changes are made, mods, corrections, etc I don't have to go around telling people to re-download a pdf.

Naturally, the etching artwork itself has to be in a pdf.

But, I also agree that no one wants to sit by a damn computer when they are building so it is probably a non-starter.
