I can look into that today, I think.

Please stick with .pdf's Brian; I personally think you do a very good job of keeping everything tidy and well organized.

My only real bit of feeback would be more demo's for your new projects (as you mention yourself). Many of these are new designs so it would be great for customers to be able to get a 'feel' for them before ordering.

Personally I don't think video is entirely necessary; well recorded (and well commented using SoundCloud etc.) clips would be fine by me.

Thanks for your input.

There's certainly no harm in it. I think what I will do is to create one archive file with all the older versions in it. The main reason for not making these more "up front" on the site is that some projects had several versions back when I was hand-etching, and I believe it would be confusing to people who are newer to the site.

But, I have pretty much everything saved, so I will look and figure out how to collate everything. Maybe it's time for a madbeanpedals dropbox.

My youTube karate is pretty limited but it is something I can look into.

One idea for the re-designed website here is to include a media page where youTube could be imbedded. Ideally, it would be great to have individual member pages for such a thing. But, that goes pretty far beyond my own rudimentary web design skills. Luckily, I'm married to a webmaster (for Mapex, no less) :)

There will be very soon (within the next few days). For all three of the Zero Points.

I have tons of praise, but since you're looking for criticism, how bout:

1) You could actually update your twitter like you said you would

2) You could upload all the old versions of project build docs (I know some early versions of the Krunkee are missing).

3) You could include links to youtube videos (to include user videos) in project pdfs. Heck why not have a contest for submitting videos!

Thank you.

1- I'm just a little confused on this one. I've been using Twitter pretty regularly to announce when new PCBs are released. Did I say I would do something else? I honestly don't remember.

2- I have removed some of the oldest versions (going back to 2009, 2010) but the archive ZIPs usually contain at least one or two previous versions. The Krunkee was was removed at the request of MI Audio, actually.

3- Yes, I agree. If a demo video is done in advance of release putting a link in the doc is a good idea.

Which brings me to another idea that I've been considering: replacing the traditional PDFs with actual webpages. The reason for this is that they can be made much more dynamic and updated frequently. If I can figure out a way to do that AND include the option to download the page as a PDF that would be the best of both worlds.

Or, perhaps only include the schematic, BOM and layout in the PDF and all the important text in a webpage. Not sure.

Yes, I do need to get more demos done. This is probably the biggest fail on my part so far. There are a few, but not nearly enough. That is something I intend to correct for 2013. Thanks.

And, just to put a finer point on that: I plan on demoing ALL three new Zero Points over the next week.

Yes. You can almost always sub MLCC/Film/Ceramic for electrolytic. For power supply filtering, usually it is best to stick to electrolytic because the values are typically large. But, for audio path, it's common practice to use film et. al. in place of electrolytic.

it wasnt a link, it was a name

Whether it was a link or a name is irrelevant. It was succinct information pointing to an adult oriented site. It is not appropriate to this forum. Don't do it, and don't argue with me about it, okay? I'm getting quite tired of babysitting your activities here.

And that's possible, but I was staying away from it since you are offering a slew of TT type projects. I think the best candidate of the current crop is the ZPDD...the double delay, since it has no modulation to start with. But, really, if tap tempo is the most important feature a person is looking for then the Zero Points may not be the ideal project. The ZPs are about including other features that have not been in PT2399 projects before, like multiple filters, double delay in a 1590B, etc.

I will, however, be working on a tap tempo analog delay. Or, at least integration to the Aquaboy, etc.

Well, so far as I can tell my envelopes pass the rigidity test. But, I'm pretty much going to be at the mercy of whatever Post Office worker does the sorting into the machines. I'll have the final answer within the next 2-3days, I think, once these hit the Miami facility. In the meantime, I'll just ship as normal until I know different.

I really hope this works out since doubling the postage rates is going to suck for international peeps.
#5067
Yeah, I'm feeling confident about this now. I read some more on Flats vs. package requirements. Any of you guys shipping PCBs should be able to qualify for Flats service so long as you are talking just a few at a time.

The difference is in flexibility. Flats have to have 1" flexibility at the edges of envelopes without damaging the contents. I just tested some shipments out and it seems to be no problem..If you want to read more, check section 2.3a and b here: http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/101.htm#1040242

I think using an even larger envelope is a good idea.

I guess I'll find out pretty soon if my theory is true or not. I hope this stuff goes through okay!
#5068
Okay, I changed the first post. I've determined that prices WILL NOT have to be raised. In fact, since the difference between package and envelope is so different now (1st Class Package is now a different service for USPS it seems) I will be able to maintain (even lower) prices slightly.

Sorry, I freaking panicked!
#5069
Wait, I might be wrong.

My software seems to be calculating things differently. Let me investigate.

The rates are correct, but the calculation between envelope and package is quite different now.
#5070
NEVERMIND! GOOD NEWS!

International service on packages has changed, and so have prices. After investigating, I've found the difference between package and envelope prices are now HUGE, whereas they were pretty near the same last year for the type and contents I ship.

I have identified that pretty much ALL MBP packages will be able to ship without using the new, more expensive postage prices. In fact, I am LOWERING the prices for now. The key here is thickness for all you shippers. If it is under 3/4" you are good to go.

These are the rates for now:

Int'l:1 or 2 PCBs: $3.00
3 to 5 PCBs: $3.50
6 to 10 PCBs: $4.25
11 or more: $5.00
