The TO-92 are generally rated at 100mA which should be sufficient. But, you can replace it with the TO-220 or similar if it worries you. I don't think you will kill the BBD with a couple percent over-voltage but there is also no reason NOT to run it right at 15v, too.

Cool, glad you like it. I've built it with VTL5C3 and VTL5C2, so it seems like there is a range of candidates.

At the studio now. Rump Roast not behaving, but the Nautilus was a hit. Kingslayer died, tremolo has a bad switch. Fortunately, turns out we are going very minimal anyway. Just using vibe and delay so it's all good.

Really pushing my time-frame on getting things done before I leave tomorrow.

A Nautilus for our bass player. A Rump Roast Sub-Mini for me.

I actually bought my current one from Home Depot and I love it. No transistor HFe readings, but it does continuity testing, capacitance and frequency measurement.

Top notch work right there! Well done!

Guys, the boards are here. Check out the projects page and click on the thumbnails and you can see pics of the new boards.

Here's the deal: I'm leaving Thursday to go to Johnson City for the recording session for the next record. I don't foresee having the time to get the docs/bom together before I go, or ship orders beyond what I have right now. So, I'll release everything next Tuesday. I get back Monday so that should give me enough time to get things in order. Later on next week I will get some video demos done, too.

Sorry, I know it sucks to wait. But, there is no point in making the ordering available when I won't be here to ship and can't get the documentation done. It's just bad timing.

That is an unusual problem. Aside from re-checking your resistor and cap values, I would verify you are getting the VB voltage to the gain pot (follow the schematic to see which lugs it goes too). Maybe spray some contact cleaner in the pot, too.

As far as treble, most people raise that 3n9 tone cap a bit. I like 5n6 and some like 6n8. I do find it trebly otherwise through my Vox setup.

...it's a Big Muff run through a David Gilmour.

Ha ha, that's so true.

Cool, brian, i thnik this good. Will the caps have 1 meg resistors to prevent popping while turning?
I have seen name brand wahs that do the switching without resistors, the popping is quite loud.

I noticed the pop. Yeah, some resistors would be good here. I'll add those in tomorrow and report back. I'm really in overdrive mode here...trying to get all my gear together for a recording session next weekend!

It's easy enough to modify the existing layout for the three caps, but I'll consider re-tooling the layout in the future so this will involve less off-board wiring. Or, maybe a breakout board like the Fulltone one.

Here are some sweet small rotary switches I've started using, BTW:

I've re-wired mine today to remove the Frequency pot. In its place I put a 2-pole 3 pos. rotary with the following values: 5n, 10n, and 20n. I also changed the emitter resistor of Q1 to 470R. I had a lower value in it before. 10n works well for me, but having the other options is nice.

Overall, I think it is an improvement and I'm going to stick with it. I think Joe is right with his observation of sticking in a lot of trimmers being the cause for less consistent builds. On the other hand, it's hard to predict exactly what features will work best for different ears....hence the feature creep that often comes into play in some of my projects :)

Anyway, mine currently has the output buffer hard-wired in, but I might add the switch in for it.

Grounding the input in bypass is exactly what the wiring scheme does. You could try a pull down with your mill-bypass. Maybe check the led to see if it is contributing to the pop.

Turns out it is pretty excessively bright sounding right now. I'm having to turn the tone knob down to tame it a bit. I've got a treble bleed cap in there, and I also decided to try out half round stings on it. I think I will lose the cap and use different strings. I like chime but this is a bit ice pickey.

Since I'm doing guitar repairs this week, I decided to re-wire one of my other Strats. On the next one I'm going to set it up for series-parallel on the bridge and neck.

It's 1.23 now. Even after successfully loading the firmware, mine still says 1.13. Kinda stuck.
