However, i think the collective work has had its pass at distortion.  i think filtering and sequencing is the route "we" need to expand into.

I tend to agree with this, at least as far as MBP is concerned. I do enjoy building a nice overdrive because the simplicity and ease....it's like taking a vacation. But, there is still a pretty big gap to be filled in terms of filters/sequencers/delays and some simple DSP in the DIY world.

As Josh mentioned is most certainly is under 100mA. The original 24v positive ground version draws about 40mA.

Have you audio probed the input and output pins of the first BBD? Are you getting signal to it, but not out of it? What are you voltage measurements on pins 1, 5 and 8 of each BBD?

This is a good way to DIY it.

Yeah, there won't be much if any audible difference under normal listening conditions between a 100pF and 120pF cap, so that's no sweat.

For the Presence knob, mine is basically set and forget. With my Strat and Champ, which was my testing equipment for this, I just dialed it to the right spot and left. It really made the Strat sing, esp. in the 2nd position which is my favorite.

The difference between 100k and 500k vol pot is output impedance/volume. IOW, with a larger pot you get more volume out...but, also more potential noise. There is nothing wrong with using 100k.

Glad you like the Egghead!

How is it set up? Is the Fat Pants driving the EgoDriver or the other way around? Is the bad clipping happen with just one side engaged or both? Need more info.

It should not matter which you use. You can probably use a 2n3904, too. Pin out is opposite though.

After R31 you are going into an inverted input so if you are audio probing you would not expect to get any signal at that point. The important thing is getting output from that stage at pin7. If you have no output then the things to look at are:

Does IC3 get power and ground?
Are R32 and GAIN2 soldered properly?
Is the Gain trimmer turned up enough?

Cool, yeah I have everything I need now. $20 oven completed the investment.

Nautilus was probably my favorite. I have many more least favorites (prototypes) that caused a lot of frustration. I also enjoyed the meat sphere.

Hey Brian, you're obviously busy with 30 different projects, but just out of curiosity, what happened with the mandroid?

Oh, I will still be doing that. I ran into a bit of trouble with the idea for the design and have not picked it back up yet. But, I will take another look at it probably in January.

So, things are going out of stock a whole lot more quickly than I anticipated. In just the past couple of days the FatPants, PorkBarrel, Cave Dweller, Hipster, Mudbunny all sold out. Re-stock on these may extend into January to allow for the new projects to get manufactured in December. We'll see.

I did do an inventory yesterday and noticed I had a couple Bloviators and Honey Dripper PCBs left. If anyone wants to add one to an order PM me and we'll arrange payment. There are 3 Bloviators and 4 HoneyDripper boards.
