Global Annoucements / 10.19 - 500 Server error, blah
October 19, 2012, 01:01:57 PM
So, I'm sure people have noticed some error messages recently when trying to access the site. This is something that really has not been a frequent problem here in the past, so I got curious and started digging to find out what the deal is.

Turns out that my host has implemented a new restraint on shared plans involving "resource points" according to how much server hardware a particular site is exploiting. Each site gets a maximum number of "points" and once you go over that, you start down the bottleneck. Basically, it's kind of a crap deal...the bandwidth and usage for the website is about the same it's been all year, but now that they are enforcing the "point system" it's going to cause problems on a frequent basis since apparently madbeanpedals consumes twice as many points as allocated. This may cause them to suspend the account if it continues, which obviously I am not too happy about.

So, I'm looking into alternatives right now, including a different host and possibly a virtual server plan. I do not know yet how quickly this transition will happen but I expect pretty soon. In the meantime, if the site goes down now and then, it is only temporary (so I hope). Please try to refrain from constantly reloading pages if you get errors. Just come back after a while and hopefully things will be back to normal. Once I know for sure if and when a migration happens, I will let everyone know.

November will be delays, December will be filters/modulation.

Welcome to the forum, Eric!

It's not close at all. I have yet to do any work on it...sorry. I definitely will do it, but maybe not before the end of the year.

There seems to be some corroboration that this is the actual pedal...but there is always the possibility the image is a hoax.

Originally, it was supposed to have some kind of badge or something on the top. But, the guy handling pre-orders for it said the pedal had some bizarre text on it, and then this image popped up sometime later.

So, this image popped up a couple of days ago on TGP. It seems to be the real deal. While I do understand the motivation for the "blurb" and totally agree, I gotta say making that the gfx for the pedal is truly baffling. The old Klon is so iconic. This just seems utterly dull and narcissist. Opinions?

OSH has really got their shit together. The efficiency is amazing...turn-around times seem a bit quicker now than they were a year or so ago. madbeanpedals would not have nearly as many projects if it were not for cheap prototyping!!

Still waiting for the manufacturer to ship the new boards.

It will not be re-stocked in its current form. However, this may replace it:

You can adapt most PT2399 delays for bass just by increasing the input and output decoupling capacitors to 1uF or great. Keep in mind the freq range of the PT2399 is something like 5k, so I don't think there is anything special you need to do to adjust filtering for bass.

For octave, more or less the same rules apply. There are plenty of circuits that can be modified for bass just by changing those input and output caps. Now, if you wanna get real slick, add a clean blend in parallel!

General Questions / Re: c9 on slow loris

+ side always goes toward the highest voltage source. So, in this case it should go toward R9 and the negative side toward the Vol pot.

Should be fine with 2n3904. You could try lowering the gain by increasing the values of R2 and R16. Never tried it myself, but it might help with clarity. Maybe 2k4 or 3k3.

I don't know how Wampler does it in his pedal, but implementing a dynamic envelope for the delay is pretty straight forward. I've actually done some work on this already. Gimmie a day or two to get together and I will post my results in the Extra Projects section.
