You mean like a gate? Or a swell?

I love it. It feels really natural to me. I've never owned a Gibson or anything like it so it's hard to make a real comparison. Someday I will build an SG, though. Maybe an LP Studio.

Not to derail but since it was brought up, the 2012 Warhead will have a switchable input buffer similar to the Mojovibe and most likely utilize the vactrol trick so you can use a single ganged 100kB speed control. Actually, this is pretty much finished except I was having trouble getting the rate down to the speed I want. Typcial of me, I put it aside to work on something else....I will get back to it soon, though. It's pretty much a combination of a traditional univibe, with elements of the Mojo and Forum vibe thrown in.

BTW: geek--that clip is fantastic. That's one of the nicest sounding DIY vibes I've heard--even better than my build of the Warhead!

Requests / Re: Reverse Delay

My guess is that it's probably out of the realm of typical DIY. There is no "canned" solution I know of that can sample and reverse on the fly.

The closest thing I've heard is not in a delay, but the Perscription Fuzz (or something like that). It emulates the reverse fuzz a la Jimi. I've actually built a clone of that and it worked pretty well, I thought. But, it's more of a dynamics trick than a real reverse signal, obviously.

You should totally put LEDs in all those holes!

Can you provide a pic of the top of your board?

A faulty PT2399 would not cause a volume drop most likely...it would either pass delay or not. If it's passing delay, I would say that is not the source of the problem.

Open Discussion / New Tele Day
September 04, 2012, 02:58:16 PM
I've had the parts for this for well over a year and started to put it together a couple of weeks ago. Both the body and neck are from BYOC members. The neck is a Warmoth conversion, so it's a Gibson scale...fat neck profile, too. It originally had a painted headstock which I sanded down and finished with Tung Oil. Body was also done in Tung. I will probably add two more coats to the pine back at some point.

The hardware and pickups are from GFS. The pickups are really hot and I'm not completely sold on them yet. I'm pretty used to weak single coils. I I used a sweet 22n PIO cap for the tone control and man is it smooth!

Overall, it's not a typical sounding tele. It's quite deep and resonant. I'll have to spend more time with it to figure out if I want to take it in a different direction or not. I LOVE the look, though---exactly what I was going for.

To do: all the setup (bridge radius, intonation, neck adjustment) stuff and I still need to put the strap buttons on. Right now it has a traditional cup on the jack, but I will be swapping that for an electrosocket type.

Total cost came in under $300 so you can't beat that!

Build Reports / Re: Kingslayer - completed

Very simple. I used white Stazon ink and a small set of rubber stamps bought at a hobby shop. I use it occasionally when I don't want to go through the hassle of labeling myself.

Great! I can't believe you already put this together. I just shipped it like two days ago, ha ha.

I'm so happy that you are pleased with it :)

What do you think of the LM313s? I've never tried those myself in anything.

General Questions / Re: KingSlayer project
August 31, 2012, 11:09:04 PM
Yes, anything with polarity should be electrolytic and the rest should be film. Except the two small ones (470pF and 392pF) which can be ceramic.

Don't worry too much about brand. That's mostly marketing hype. If you can get the Panasonics (ECQ-B or ECQ-V) great, but I don't know about their availability overseas. WIMA or Topmay box caps are also fine.

The Sparkplug schematic and BOM incorrectly listed R2 as 1k. R2 should be 10k.

The doc has been revised and re-uploaded. Please make a note if you have already printed the documentation out.
