The TC1044SCPA can take up to 12v. The MAX1044SCPA is rated at 10v, but can usually tolerate up to 12v from what I've read. The 9.1v zener will prevent any over-voltage in either situation. You can run the Boneyard at up to 12v, but the best bet is to use the TC charge pump then (and obviously use a 12v Zener instead of 9.1v).

You want to jumper pads 2 and 3 which are the middle and right ones on the PCB.

Either one is fine. Heat dissipation with 1W is better, but if you are only using a 9v power supply the zener should not heat up. Only if you plugged in 12v or 18v would it really start to get hot.

Build Reports / Re: Snarkdoodle "Snark"

Looks great! IMO, it really shines on low gain settings with the right gear. I used a Llama clone on our last record with a Hamer Special and Cage amp, very low gain setting, and it was absolutely perfect.

I think it could be made to sound quite good with the right circuitry. Just hooking up a photocell b/w in and out does not cut it for d00dz like us. The fan thing might allow for some speeds not attainable by LFO. Then again, I guess it will vary a lot on the actual photocell used.

You can also replace just Q1 with a 2n5457 and leave the other as J201. I did this on my very first Boogie build way back and it helped a lot with noise.

It's the two 10n caps.

Global Annoucements / 08.24 - Coming up
August 24, 2012, 06:22:56 PM
Probably Monday or Tuesday these will be available: Road Rage, Kingslayer, Sparkplug and Retrograde. I'll be getting the new docs together this weekend and getting some demos done of the Kingslayer and Sparkplug. The Retrograde has been absent for a while, so I've been keen to get a new PCB done for it. It will still fit in a 1590B.

I expect the next batch of releases to be in a few more weeks and will at least include the Nautilus and new Auquaboy. Maybe some Sparklehorns, too and anything else I might get completely finished.

I would start with some voltage readings and make sure you are getting proper power to the correct places (i.e. the 18v and 10v supplies). Also, are you confident about your 3080s? I know at least one person had an issue with either fakes or bad ones bought online.

Any audio through at all?

The trick here is to use a small PC fan like midway implied. I know I have one around here somewhere. I have a proper potentiometer to control the fan, leftover from my last PC build. If you are willing to do without the interchangeable discs, and just use the fan blades it could be mounted inside an enclosure on a PCB. It could be badass or suck...I'm kinda jazzed to explore the idea regardless.

That's awesome. Come on, Brian, we need that as a new madbean project.  I think it would rule in a vibe circuit.

Man, that's a way-complicated way to make an LFO.  ;D

Nerdy nit pick: The guy says the LDR gives more resistance with more light, but it's actually the opposite.  :-X

That was pretty much where my brain went: phaser or vibe.

I actually should have just the part to do something like this. Gonna check in the shop today.

But, we could make this better with some internal circuitry!

Been getting back into these guys lately. I've been a fan since around 1990, saw them a couple of times, etc. It's amazing they've stuck around so long. Admittedly, I don't think I've listened to anything new from the last 6-7 years. But, oh man...it doesn't get much better than the sound of Pinnick and Tabor together. Gimmie a 12 sting bass and drop D and I'm a happy d00d!!

I did a little research on Ty Tabor's gear through the late 80's. It would be fun to put together a pedal project based around that gear (Lab Series Amp, Fender Elite)....not that it would come out sounding like Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. But, maybe some good tones could be found.

General Questions / Re: Looper/blender problems
August 22, 2012, 02:52:36 AM
You should be able to do this with a 3PDT footswitch and DPDT toggle. The 3PDT is wired true bypass, with the fx in and out then wired to the DPDT. One position of the DPDT connects to the in/out of your blender circuit and the second position connects to the in and out of the fx chain. This way you can bypass all the effects, use the blender circuit or go through the fx chain on its own.
