Re-Orders have arrived and are now back in stock. The following PCBs are now available: Low Rider, Weener Wah, Dirtbag Deluxe, Mudbunny, Pork Barrel and the Cave Dweller. The Double Flush did not arrive in the shipment, so I am contacting the manufacturer to find out when they will get here. I've put a tentative date down for 7.30, which is a week from today.

On note: the Cave Dweller is a rev.1 PCB. I reduced the width of the PCB by 1mm to make it fit better in the 1590A and relocated the 9v/Gnd connections for the DC jack to the top of the PCB. No circuit changes were made. The project doc has been updated to reflect these changes.

General Questions / Re: Sunking Wiring Question

You are right---I must have omitted the pulldown from that layout. As murdog said---just add it directly between the effect input and ground (not the jack input). You can actually do it right on the 3PDT switch if you like. Or, between the in lug on the switch and the sleeve of your input jack.

I would double check your resistor values around the LFO - R31 - R38. Make sure you've used the correct values on each of those. Any subs on Q5? The use of a Cool Audio IC should not be the issue, unless you have not set the jumpers properly per the project doc.

The collector voltages will depend on where the Stab knob is set actually. In any case, those voltages do look very off. What type of transistors are you using and are you sure you have them oriented correctly? Have you check the board carefully for any trace breaks or solder bridges?

You can use a higher value if you want to dim the LED more. With the zener there the voltage to the LED is already limited, hence the smaller value of 1k. Feel free to use 4k7, or whatever you want according to the LED type you choose.

Those spots are for 1M pulldowns (leftover from the previous version). You should not need to use them

Wiring accounts for a good 1/2 of builds gone bad. Your in/out jacks do not appear to be grounded in that photo which may have been the problem.

General Questions / Re: Aristocrat Diodes

Actually, 1N4001's also sound good for D5/6. I have used those now that I remember. I cannot really recall at this point the minutiae of the different diodes, though...it's been a couple years since I fired one up. You might also try RED LEDs for D5/6, too. I do remember using that and liking it.

1n914 all the way is what I've used in a couple. Liked em just fine.

Please see this thread and try and provide some more info on your build, please.

General Questions / Re: Notaklon release?
July 16, 2012, 11:01:36 PM
The Kingslayer is not a direct clone of the Klon, but revised and expanded to my own personal taste. There are several changes: the voltage supply has been reconfigured from +18/-9v to a more simple +/- 9v supply. This allows for a reduction in parts (smaller layout) while still retaining most of the headroom. The two dual amp ICs have also been reduced to one quad, with a specific IC suggested. Additionally, the entire circuit is run at +/-9v. The Klon runs the second half of the circuit only at the expanded voltage supply. Doing it this way actually adds back a bit more headroom than is available in the Klon. Another change is the addition of two switches for clipping choices. It allows you to select two different sets hard clipping diodes and also one pair of soft clipped diodes (in the feedback loop of the gain stage). This adds a greater range of tones IMO than the Klon.

So, you get pretty close to the Klon sound, use less parts, the layout is smaller and has no standing resistors (unlike the Sunking which was a Klone) and get a few choices for clipping diodes.

I've updated thge Projects page with the tentative release date of 7.21 for the re-orders. I've also added what I think will be released in August.

I bet half of those parts aren't even connected to anything  ;D
