Lots of good progress on this today. One half of the circuit is pretty near perfect. Time to f'up the clean side next.

OT but I see the Aquaboy (not the Deluxe version) is no longer marked as 'discontinued' but instead has a forecast release date of 2012??

I'm going to re-release it with a new layout. The new design will be a 1590BB and be a much easier build...no standing resistors. It will still have the BBD jumpers for using different chips. The idea being that it will be the "simple" analog delay, and the Deluxe will have the larger feature set (2x delay, on-board modulation, tails). There will also be an add-on modulation PCB that will fit in easily with the new AB design similar to the older add-on boards. It's called the "AquaBaby" heh heh.

Do the two grounds on the cave dweller just both get run to the 3pdt? Can't wait!!!!! Gonna be cleaning out my 'pedal savings' :P

You can run one ground to the switch and then the other with the 9v wire to the DC jack. It's cleaner that way.

Fortunately, the revised board is actually smaller, lengthwise. You gain an extra half inch or so at the top, which should make fitting a bit easier than this one.

This is the official Baby Board / 1590A smack down project announcement goo. I've just updated the projects page with the intended roster. Things might get added or taken away, depending, but it will give everyone a good idea of what's going on: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/index.html

To get people excited, I've uploaded complete documentation for Cave Dweller ver. 1 and 2 WITH PCB artwork for any etchers that want to get started at home right away. The actual PCBs will be available in the next batch of fabbed boards which I hope to have right at the end of this month.

Anyway, I think this is going to turn out to be a great set of projects for everyone, so I hope to see some really cool looking baby builds here in the next few months :)

Whee!

You can't actually build a Klone on this board, anyway, but when has that ever stopped anyone? It's maybe 75% Klon and 25% madbean. Or, whatever numbers you like.

CJ- I thought about that copper text, actually, but making the board that much bigger would kinda mess up the enclosure fitting.

I think this is fine, so long as it doesn't put anyone off. The "no klone" thing is more directed toward the HERE'S MY KLONE ON EBAY>>>I AM PEDUL BILDER NAO, L@@@@@K crowd, not anyone here ha ha.

Or, would people find my little comments on there offensive (as madbeanpedals customers, I mean)?

Anyway, I think this one is it!

Not to derail, but I will definitely get a demo done of mine for the forum. The only hold-up is I f'd up my drill spacings and put the jacks in a really bad spot. But, I think I can fix that and get it wired up.

I actually am about ready to get back to it. I haven't touched it in a few months but it was already quite close to being finished. I'd like to get it done for March, I think.

Our record has now been out over a year and it's picked up a little steam recently. Today I was pointed to this really generous review: http://www.rustzine.com/RUST/Radiophonic.html

I kinda thought at first they were trolling us, cause frankly I wouldn't have imagined anyone saying such lofty things about the record. But, it has made my day, regardless!

That looks lovely. How do you like the 250k pot for the gain?

Also, I've seen those DC jacks on a few different builds from people. Can you tell me where you go it from?

Thanks for sharing!

Mods / 1590A Drill Template
February 12, 2012, 12:51:18 AM
This is as close to a CAD drawing that one needs for hand drilling, I think. I've used this on a couple of boxes now and it seems to be correctly scaled. It has position markers for several pot layouts on the front face depending on what you are building. The scaled template is in the pdf file.

This is a long shot but, I wonder if small variations in the forward voltage of all those 1n914s could lead to the discrepancy in different R21 values?

Maybe it's worth mentioning modding it for a pot. I think you actually suggested that at one point.
