Put a 10 - 47pF cap to ground at the input and that should fix it.

No worries. I will update the board when I think I am close to having something ready. Nothing yet.

R11 should probably be connected to ground, not Vb, I just realized.

Here's the schematic I came up with for this. There are a couple of small changes, but it is mostly the Plexi. I dropped the buffer altogether because there's nothing special about it. It will run on +18 / -9v from the Road Rage.

I'll try and work the rest out when I have a little more time.

Well....I guess mine must be special then. Or, gonna die soon.

I love the look of this thing. The mix of red and black labels really does it for me, for some reason!

2 - bad opamp (put a 2272 in there forgetting it was a 10v max)

Huh...really? Interesting. I have had no issues using that one in the SK.

Yeah, that's where the DIY fun starts. Let's see if we can make it so you can build one for $50!

Are the knobs working okay for you that close together? Or, are the skirts rubbing against each other?

There's a joke somewhere in there...I know it.

Yep, the Max1044 can take 12v, even though I think that's over-spec. Frequencycentral does this in a lot of his sub-mini tube designs where he takes a 12v input and bumps it up to around 70v with a charge pump.

All this inspiration is perfectly timed....just got some sub-mini tubes and a mini transformer in yesterday!

You know...I wonder if you could DIY tube protectors like that. Some washers drilled out for a couple of screwholes, and these: http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=824

I'm gonna be totally lazy and not search my own forum so I can just go ahead and ask where can one purchase such a product as bake on decal paper.

I'm surprised that you notice much difference with the buffer. There's not much in the way of tone shaping....but there is a little, I guess. If it sounds thin, you could increase the input cap. Output cap 4u7, I think, so that's not affecting the frequency range.

And yea, you need linear dual 100k for the gain pot!

You can always increase that 3n3 to 4n7 to darken it down a hair.

I think I could do something like this, but without the need of a transformer. Just take +/- 9v off a Road Rage which will get pretty close to the 12/-12 the Plexitone has.

It looks intriguing, so yeah, we'll see about this one.
