Specifically, a contest that requires an audio submission of some kind of creative or unique use of pedals you have built (regardless of year completed).

Does this count as "creative use"?  ;D ;D

I have a poem:

When you are 'bout to box up a fresh delay

And your butt just starts to spray, and spray, and spray...

Diarrhea.

Diarrhea.

I buy a spool of Kester 44 63/37 about every 6 months for my pickup winding, no lack of supply that I have heard of.  This thread reminded me that I am going to run out in a few weeks so I took a look on eBay, I just got 1lb for an offer of $15 plus $4.99 shipping.  Dunno?  I have been using 63/37 for years.  I think that same seller has another spool: https://www.ebay.com/itm/KESTER-24-6337-0027-WIRE-SOLDER-031-RA-ROSIN-SN63-PB37-66-FLUX-44-CORE-1-lb-NEW/202494469663?epid=11015969257&hash=item2f259c661f:g:pTIAAOSwLyhbY59P:rk:52:pf:0&autorefresh=true

yeah, I don't really build much anymore, staying really busy wth my pickup winding and building the occasional amp.  I keep collecting parts and build some things here and there, and lately the diablo_chris stuff has totally gotten my attention, but for the most part I am shelving my pedal builds until my kids get bigger and I have more free time.  I'd call it a season of not building, not "giving up" the hobby altogether.  If pedal parts took up a ton of space maybe I'd view it more in those terms, but because I use the same workspace to build pedals as I do to wind pickups and do guitar repairs and setups I guess I have no real need to clear it out and restart when I have more time in the future.

Open Discussion / Re: Infield strings - I'm a convert

Will have to check them out, need to explore new options.  I've been pretty stuck on SIT Powerwound Nickel 11-50's for most of my guitars, but it seems like the wrap on the ball ends of the treble strings can have a little barb that can hang up inside the bridge/tailpiece.  It has been like every other set I buy one string will have it.  Their rock-n-roll 9's and their 10's have been my go-to strings for setups and repairs, for a few years now.

I bit the bullet on some Gabriel Tenorio strings for my reverse Telemaster awhile back, man, whole different ballpark quality wise there, but a whole different ballpark pricewise too...

Just use the weener wah?  Swap components from the vintage board, sell the TDK (I think of them as the funk/disco inductor, personally really like them) and the Weener has the correct pads for the Whipple...

TDK funk disco you say.. That is actually the sound I'm after, and was never satisfied with the TDK. Maybe it's just a matter of finding a right Q value with the thing. I originally got the thing to do a 70's funk thing and it never gave it to me. Strat, clean amp, etc.  Think Love unlimited orchestra "love's theme" or  Joe Raposo's Three's company theme.. (or his work on sesame street)

I used to do a lot of true bypass conversions right before I joined up here and started building pedals from scratch, I'm not sure exactly how many, but I do remember that it was upwards of 50, about half bringing Vox V847's to vintage spec, and th other half modding vintage Thomas Organ Crybaby's, with a few nice Italian Crybaby's and Vox's here and there.  The TDK always had the most funk/disco tone to me, and from what I recall the changes that made it even more so to me were as follows:
1k5 resistor, swap to 2k or 2k2, this brings out the mids
390 ohm resistor should be 390, sometimes you see 470 or 510, Whipple suggests 330, but 390 was right on for me
33k resistor across inductor, swap for 68k (use the resistor that you replace with 56k if doing true bypass)
The single most important thing to me, trim the heel down rubber bumper with a brand new razor blade so it is just barely above flush with the rocker, then adjust the pot gear so it is 1 tooth back from max at full toe down/switch engaged position.

This gave me the best sweep as well as the best transition from low to high.

Also, the front rubber bumpers are designed to pad pretty vigorous movement without accidentally switching the wah on and off, I always used a fresh set of Dunlop replacements attached with Gorilla glue and the switch height placed just right to require a good amount of pressure to activate it.

Now, all that said, the Whipple is a nice inductor, Michael is a good guy, if you build a fresh board and use the Whipple I know where you could send the crusty old board and TDK, been wanting another wah with one.

Looks really nice!  The full mastery kit too, and with the blue burst and the Warhead neck it all fits together so well!

Brian is gonna break the cellphone internets if he doesn't make instagram icons happen.  Verizon was out of service all over the southeast today, coincidence?!?  I think not.

Well, I'm on the wait list to contact the webmaster. I like teh page but it looks funny on my amber monitor. The music rocks.
Last night I fell asleep basking under the warm glow of my amber monochrome crt, carried away on a midi dream blanket to the land of unicorn tears, moody margaritas, and card table temples.  It was lovely.

perfection.  13 months  ;D  I think you do need to have a hidden link though.  If you slowly mouse over the whole screen you'll find it.  "Teh rabbidts hole" if you will.  I want to fall down it.

A blue underlined link to "contact webmaster" could be handy for people having difficulty with the new page.

That's a really good point. Some may not be familiar with this type of website which uses images instead of text to hyperlink to other hyperglobalmegacorp pages. I've added an option to contact me if they have issues.

You are going to have to get a dot matrix printer for your invoices now.

I've planted some hops, next year will plant more, then start dividing scions after a few more years.  There are some local micros out here that are very keen to get local hops if possible.  It is not ideal growing conditions, but we'll see, I think the main thing will be keeping them out of the monsoon to avoid mildew, but I am already working on that for my tomatoes.

RE Local beers that are worth looking for if you are out this way (middle GA) Terrapin in Athens has many nice beers, Hopsecutioner is a favorite.  Also The Sweetwater 420 Extra Pale Ale is tasty and brewed in ATL.  But I don't suggest spending much time in ATL.  Unless you really like driving crazy.  Then go ahead and run the "Watermelon 500" as many times as you like.  Old man timbo_93631 is happy to stay in Putnam County and occasionally drink some of that big city ATL beer.

The coast is gonna get hammered.  We are out of the main brunt here, but if it lands 100 miles south of the projecting it'll be a different story in terms of wind, trees down, power out etc.  Irma was a real eye opener for us last year, it was crazy how hard our town got hit and we are in the middlest part of middle GA.  Praying for those on the coast, especially those who are not able to evacuate without help, elderly, homeless, super poor, etc.

Gonna be selling this pair on Reverb, I may have noodled/bleeped/blooped heavily.  For some reason audio doesn't start until around the 40 second mark.  You can probably see where the fuzz kicks in...

The Bends is a NPN PastyFace using OC141 transistors and a mix of the suggested old skool values, volume pot is 100k because the gain is plenty.  Oceanic Deluxe was in the wild for 4 years, then I bought it back from a random guy on Reverb, seems like it changed hands at ILF a few times.  Single PT2399 Zero Point Micro into a 1776effects.com Rub-a-Dub Deluxe, hardwired, only one footswitch for a master bypass.
