Thanks for the heads up. Just donated to the GoFundMe.

When is the US gonna get a real health care system that doesn't rely on gofundme like the rest of the industriaized world?

So, on the Headtrip I've decided to include the SpinCAD file used to make the patches for the project. I'm really hoping people will take advantage of that to start exploring SpinCAD to program their own stuff. It's really pretty easy once you get the hang of it. That doc should be up tomorrow. I still plan on doing an introductory tutorial to SpinCAD before the end of the year. Things is pretty crazy ATM, though.

That is a great idea.  I was motivated to learn spincad and spent a few hours on it and just gave up

Woah! I would love to have tails on my Octagon for the shimmer reverb. Any idea if the boards are similar enough to achieve the same result as with your D3lay?

Im almost positive that it would work for the reverb. I think almost all his fv1 circuits are the same and it's just the programming that changes.

Damn. Bummer. I don't know him personally but he seems like a real nice guy.

Luckily he is in Canada. Hopefully the "socialist" insurance there that you always heat American politicians talking about is as good as france. So that he comes out of this with only a 100 dollar bill. And the gofundme can help his family with other expenses.

One thing to remember, the trimmer sweet spot is so tiny, it's really easy to miss. Many including myself have done it.

While this may be true. If turning the trimmer doesn't change the voltage at all he can turn as fast or slow as he wants and will never be able to bias the jfets which in turn means no phasing.

I have played around a bit with the jfets in the circuit. I've had j201 working fine in this circuit but I remember their vgs off values were all over the place and harder to get matched sets. With the smd version there might be tighter tolerances.

With 4 jfets vs the 2 in the phase 45. It'll be harder to get lucky by just putting 4 random jets. Also keep in mind with 4 random jfets you might get phasing but with 4 matched ones the phasing will most likely be much deeper

Other alternatives that worked well for me 2n5457, 2n5458, bf245c and and 2sk30a

You can always try this if nothing works for you

If you were fine with the bar staff then you are all good.

I don't get these people. I've been to plenty of bars that had bands I didn't like or I just wanted a calmer atmosphere. There is no need to complain. Finish your drink and go to the next bar.

Nice clean looking builds. Your bi phase beats mine hands down

The power supply is not your problem. Even with the cheapest crappiest power supply you should be able to bias the pedal and have phasing. A good power supply would definitely help to have a quieter pedal though.

Did you make sure that one side of the trimmer is connected to ground. The other to the zener diode. Maybe turn the trimmer all the way down so it is grounded and verify the 1m resistor is touching ground and not 5.1 volts. Maybe pull out the jfets while doing this.

This is a great thread.

I have become interested in synths and modules. In part this is because I like building circuits but am slow to box and use them, and don't need a 20-pedal board. Clearly modular synthesis is potentially a big expensive rabbit hole. But my thinking is that it shouldn't need to have a huge and expensive entry price tag. So I'm trying to DIY as much as possible. This is going a little slowly because information is scattered about: there's no central source of layouts like tagboardeffects is for guitar pedals, for example. Also I have some layout/PCB desires, like board-mounted pots if possible, which means doing some of my own layouts.

The only thing that's complete and tested here is the power supply, but at least that's progress. It's my intention to document this in a thread and post layouts as I verify them, and get feedback and suggestions.

Sounds like a great idea. Keep us informed!

Are you using top mounted jacks? If so do your input/output wires run right over the lfo?

Just got around to watching the video. Thanks for putting that together. You are a mad man to have even thought about building this beast.

good enough for reverb ... I try not to engage in the debate about class a because it usually involves someone who has an amp that is cathode biased with no negative feedback that doesn't understand that those two things don't guarantee class a operation in a push pull amp. disagreements are had, words exchanged, feelings hurt, cycle continues.

It probably gets much worse when it is HiFi geeks. With many more adjectives that mean nothing like airy.

Btw. Nice article. Thanks for sharing.
