Tech Help - Projects Page / Glasshole LDR Cover
December 21, 2021, 09:48:04 AM
I'm building a Glasshole project and though it might fun to use Mil-Max sockets for the LDR LED so I could swap different color LED's. The LED obviously sits a little higher. I'm building a custom enclosure so not concerned about it fitting just wanted some advice for a light shield.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Retrograde tone sounds thin
November 24, 2021, 12:17:13 PM
Just finished building a retrograde and noticing the bottom end really disappears until I switch the octave down. Regardless of settings the tone gets very thinned out unless I switch the octave down.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Naughty Fish Squealing

Ok I'm having trouble with NF#2. Attached are the IC voltages. When I turn up the gain a bit it begins to howl, squelch, and make an awfully loud sound.
I'm including a dropbox link to show a  video I took of whats happening.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Naughty Fish Oscillating

I had this working but when boxing it up I must have done something because now it's just oscillating when I turn up the gain and or Volume.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Naughty Fish Output ground
December 05, 2018, 08:42:26 AM
I noticed in the documentation for the NF you don't have the sleeve of the output jack connected to anything. In other builds I noticed the output sleeve connected to the sleeve of the input jack or the common point on the 3PDT.

This may be a silly question. I have DPDT switches that are solder lug. In the note is says that both lug and PCB mount will work. If I use the solder lug do I insert them in the PCB holes or use wires to connect to the board. The solder lugs fit in the PCB holes. I'm also using solder lug pots as well so those I obviously will be wiring to the board.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Kingslayer 2015 IC Voltages
December 20, 2016, 03:55:46 PM
Am I doing something wrong? Hers are the voltages I measured.

IC3 TC1044
1) 8.58v
2) 5.12v
3) 0
4) -3.3v
5) -8.24v
6) 3.71v
7) 5.26v
8) 8.57v

IC2 TL072
1) 41.7mV
2) 2mV
3) 0
4) -8.29v
5) 0
6) 3.9mV
7) -33.8mV
8) 8.63v

IC1TL072
1) 4.7mV
2) 4.7mV
3) 0
4) -8.3v
5) 0
6) 2.8mV
7) 12.7mV
8) 8.63v

The way I tested it was I had an extra enclosure that I installed input, output and 9v connectors. I connected the input of the Kingslayer to the input tip connector and output of the Kingslayer to the output time connector. I ran leads from the 9v jack to the power  points of the Kingslayer. What puzzles me is  on IC3 pin 4 I'm getting -3.3V and the notes say I should have +3.34V. IC2 pin 1 I measured 41.7mV and notes say I should have -12.7mV. I have various pins where it says negative voltage and I have positive. and IC2 has some values pretty off. I connected a guitar up and it seems to be functioning except for buzz at high gain values. I assume this is beach of the open enclosure. Where should I begin?

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / 9V DC wiring
December 13, 2016, 05:29:51 AM
Ok really basic question. I'll be using a VooDoo iso5 to power my Kingslayer.  When wiring up the D.C. Jack since the center pin is -9V should that be wired with a red or black wire? Also does that connect to them+ or - hole on the pcb of the Kingslayer. Sorry for the really basic question I'm just having a mental brain fritz and can't wrap my head around this.

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / Stuffing a PCB
November 21, 2016, 04:27:42 AM
I have a couple of basic stuffing questions. 1) When bending resistor leads for  a MB Kingslayer for example. The smallest gauge on my wire bending tool seems a little big.  I still have to adjust the leads to fit in properly. Also should there be a little space between the component and the board. 2) when using box caps like WIMA's how do you prevent them from falling out when you turn the board over to solder them?p

Tech Help - Projects Page / Kingslayer 2015 R20 value
November 19, 2016, 03:32:08 PM
I accidentally forgot to order the resistor for R10. I have a 430K on hand and the schematic calls for 422K. Is this something that would be acceptable or too far off value for it's position.
