Hey team - been trying to finish my first build. First time around I got a lot of noise and no boost/Dirt from my pedal. Thought it'd be a ground issue (thanks to people on this board) so have rewired it up better.

This time around I got some effect! Along with a whiney hum - maybe from my mains out put - well that's what I thought. So to test, I wired up the battery to the effect (this was just an DC powered effect so wired up a 9v to plug of my dc jack using croc clips) and now I get nothing - not even the LED. Tested back with my normal plug and still poked. Have I cooked my effect - and if so, is it all poked or have I just broken say the LED because I reversed the polarity, and it'll come right if I swap that out?

My main issue has been with the off board wiring cos I'm a noob (see mess in pic) and want to get it right before I smash into the mudbunny.

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / Soldering tips

Hey crew

When wiring things to Jacks, do you have to wire/solder on the lug or can you wire direct to the metal other bits (like the tip shaft rather than the tip lug)?

Made some drilling errors in my first build and struggling for room to cleaning solder things - thought this might be a solution.

Cheers

Boom - first build (DIY GUITAR PEDALS. Com.au Dirt & Boost) worked great when I tested it - but now it's in a box and just NOOOOISE haha.

I'm not asking for help here (cos I haven't gone and checked everything yet) but just wondering if there were some common off board wiring issues I should look out for.

And also - when there are multi wires going to a point (like the grounds) should I Solder each separately or can I twist them all together and solder as one? (I've done this - this might be my issue lol)

In any case I'm learning. Got a Mudbunny on the way to build next - fun.

Thanks!

Ello,

I've just started getting into pedal building - like I've built one - the 10min Boost/Dirt from DIYGuitarPedals.com.au - now I'm hooked.

I'm looking at making the Mudbunny and just had a question re resistor power ratings. Does it matter?

I note that some pedal parts stores seem to stock .25w resistors, but my local parts store only stocks .5w in the values I need- does it matter for the use in pedals?

Cheers team.
