I think yer right? It sounds germanium too? Transistor Hfe 120-165ish range, colorsound one knob is a very forgiving circuit wether it's germanium or silicon. I think it has something to do with the smallish capacitor across Q1's base & collector? it really helps shape its sound? one of my favorite fuzz face variants, btw 2n2222a metal can & 2n3904 transistors sound good for silicon version. Good luck on yer build.

Yea +1 on Dpdt switch, the current switch won't turn it all the way off from audio chain. which is what they call a "tone sucker" dod 250 schematic is all over the internet, so not so hard to figure out in/out & ground connections, your friend will thank you in the end. I converted mine long ago, best thing I coulda done to it, otherwise it dulls up your sound bypassed. Good luck
