Yes I've definitely learned about economies of scale and I try and buy 10 or 100 or 200 at a time. My problem is just that I have run out of money before I've had my first sale.

I love making a Pedals but my business acumen and planning definitely leave something to be desired.

Hey EBK,

What's the best way to do that?

thanks guys.

pIckdropper, it's Xicon 1% MFR, Most of the Box caps are 5%, Nichicon electrolytic, Mill-Max Gold plated IC sockets(pins too), TI and microchip IC's (I don't do China, no offense to anyone), MLCC's are C0G class I, Tantalum and  diodes except for the clipping diodes, the others are from Mouser (not Tayda), Switchcraft guitar jacks, Kobicon DC jacks, Alpha Pots and then there are the clipping diodes.

i had some misconceptions early on in my R&D and luckily some members of this forum set me straight. I ended up socketing many dozens of diodes. I sourced them from most US manufacturers and also got vintage stuff from Russia and Bulgaria and current stuff from Thailand. I listened a lot and took a lot of notes. I finally found one that sounded right to me.

For a sane person that would have been it. Not me. I wanted to match the original spec of 0.35v. I decided to keep all of the diodes to +/- 0.03v. I buy them 100-200 at a time and hand test each and everyone of them. Less than 10% make the cut.

Thats why its so darned expensive to make.

Thank you Gordo, I pride myself that the inside looks as good as the outside.

And I agree, I'm pretty hard on myself, but I stand by the fact that is is the most expensive to make!

That's what happens when you overkill even when it's won't make a difference.

Actually, he just got back to me.

Seems they were having some process problems with one of the boards i bought.

He was really stand up and even offered any two boards for free.

What a contrast from AmplifiedParts.com

Im on it.

I just found a workaround on a mac, but you have to choose the photos, export the photos, pick a file type, pick an extension, specify a size. Its just a hassle.

I've seen the tap talk thing just blew it off. I'll go find it.

Thx

I will spare you the details, I'm not going to impress anyone around here.

I do think I was successful in making the most expensive to manufacture Klone ever.

I also think if it has problems I'm up the creek, I left myself no wiggle room with the wiring whatsoever.

Graphics are a little busy too, but better than my normal labelmaker graphics.

Enough dogging on myself, it sounds great.

I obviously don't have a Centaur to compare it too, but I've listened a lot on YT and this is grittier, in a good way, for the last 1/2 to 1/3 of the pot.

I'm game, I'll try the FB thing. I use safari.

Thx

General Questions / I know it’s a rule!

I have tried for the third time to post a build. I always get cut off at the knees when it comes to uploading the photos. First, they are to big and then they are the wrong file type and then something else.

I now use my iPhone for most photographs. At first, I busted out the DSLR and the macro lens, too shallow DOF. I tried a kit lens on it and it not much of an improvement. I actually prefer the iPhone pics. But, they are still too big. The only thing I knew to do was e-mail them to yourself and it asks what size you want to use.

Yes I thought! Wrong! Now it's in the wrong kind of file.

There was something else too, but I am just not figuring it out.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not bit*hing, I just know that there is an easier way to do it and I am just being a hammerhead.

Open Discussion / Guitar PCB mania?
October 10, 2018, 06:42:33 AM
Is this place legit?

I ordered 40 euros of pcb's in September and they charged my paypal. I actually forgot about it, but remembered a couple of days ago. They show the order still processing. I have e-mailed twice and no response.

I probably just need to be patient, but I was just wondering about others experience.

Just don't be surprised. To immediately accuse of tampering just sort of weird. After they asked for the defective footswitches. I was asked why I had disassembled the footswitches, why the lugs were not in perfect shape and why I cut the LED leads. I tried to explain that if you don't put the nut back on those switches they just naturally come apart, that I had a daughter board on the lugs and it's a waste of time to try to desolder 9 lugs and that to fit that big of a footswitch in a 1590b is because you have to make room. I didn't know there were going to be forensics done.

I even sent them pictures of the other builds to try and explain.

That was when They said I tampered with them and was trying to fraud them. I'm not even mad, I'm still in shock. I think I'm gonna fraud McDonalds out of some fries tomorrow.

I'm an anarchist!
