Maybe we need a support group.

Maybe "Board to Death"

For those of you who are more loquacious

"Sons of the mismatch of paypal and hours in the day"

That's similar to what I do.

Once I get my resistors in place I take blue painters tape and cover the entire board to protect the resistors.

Then I take a sheet of blue tack and press it down very firmly on top.

Then take it out of the vice and carefully turn it over.

Then I press it down on my work table.

I then start soldering what is accessible and bend the leads over is I'm going.

You can do an entire board that way.

Work great.

I'm sure I have at least ten builds in progress. Some are just in planning/gathering materials, but most are waiting on graphics. I've got to get that sorted soon. Right now it's my rate-limiting step.

I on the other hand need all the experience I can get.

I have a bad habit of pushing things. I'm deliberately going to try and let this progression happen organically and enjoy it.

I feel your pain, I keep a spread sheet of where i am at with various builds. Does it have all of the parts, built, painted, demo, posted, just to keep track of everything. Last count was 60-ish, there is no end in sight.
You're a better man than I am. I'm lucky to corral my stuff into the same room. Much less make a spreadsheet!

I keep everything in my studio that way my wife never knows whats new or old, just that there is a disaster of a room with a bunch of stuff in it.

The spreadsheet idea came into play one long night at work with nothing to do.

Funny enough I was going to do the same thing, post the spreadsheet and ask members what to build next and suggestions for artwork. As of now my five year old chooses quite a bit and i now have two vfe builds with angry birds on them.

But I also have one dung beetle with Barney from the simpsons. True fact no one has ever typed that sentence before.
Inconceivable

I'm headed out of town again, but when I get back I think I'll post a vote on what to build next.

I need to get out of my comfort zone. So, either a beast build, more complex 1590A (somehow, I've avoided this) or something completely different.

That helps tremendously. Right now I'm reading the users guide to my graphics program.  144 pages of it.

I've got the pedal vector pack.

I've got to go find the laser label paper that was recommended, can't remember if it was pickdropper or someone else. I ordered the wrong stuff. Sucks.

I've got the acrylic, bolts, taps/counter sinks

Now, I've got a workflow.

Sounds like things are coming together.

Really appreciate your help.

Open Discussion / I think I have a problem. A good one.
October 20, 2018, 08:23:54 AM
So, I'll be moving soon and am in the process of consolidating and packing.

Well I brought all my boards together and on a whim I counted them.

There are 76 builds in the queue.

Oops! Can someone say overkill.

Like I said a good problem, but no wonder I don't have any cash left to buy enclosures and parts!

No doubt there's some cost to it. However when I first started out I was having a lot of trouble soldering and so I got the microscope later on I found out I'm just old and needed readers.

Gordo,

I missed your comment earlier. Sick oh yes I'm a very sick and twisted individual.

Too bad I have to dismantle it here in the next couple weeks as I'm going to be moving. I guess that's the old glass half empty half full thing.

I guess somethings are not going to be as nice but I can make other things better than they are now.

Not pictured and all dad are some regular part storage bins and some shelving where I keep the builds in the queue.

Are you some plastic lunch containers think of it like a small cafeteria tray to keep all the parts that go to one build altogether.

Lee, here are a few pics.

You guess what it is.

The microscope is 1080 in the monitor 720.

I have a Particular distaste for stereo microscope's. I used to be on one of those eight hours today five days a week for a couple years and you get really sick of them.

I like mine hooked up to the monitor just fine.

EBK and Bio77,

Huge thanks,

I'm just barely into this and I can already tell that this is what I was looking for with the added bonus of drill templates and planning and placement of components.

I've been doing all of that by hand with old drafting templates. Welcome to the modern world. Now if we only had an information system that connected everyone!
