Tidy! And yeah, it's not a BF-2... unless you want it to be.

I love the lectric-fx stuff but, they're a biasing nightmare.

So I hear you saying, you want us to release builds with more trimmers?
How about some of the maxon/Ibanez 9 series like the CS9 and FL9? You can have my money now

Build Reports / Flintlock flanger

This is my fourth flanger build, and the only one I've built that I hadn't already owned. Because of this, I was thrown for a loop. The build was very straightforward. I built the board, tested the voltage, put the ICs in and it fired right up. Easy part is over. As many have experienced with this build, biasing is somewhat of a challenge. In my case it was made worse because I've never played this pedal, and have no idea what a properly set up pedal sounds like. To make matters worse, I had no idea  the controls were so interactive and complex. This is not like any Flanger I have played before.
After many videos explaining the controls and the sounds it can make, and after watching the moosapotameous videos on biasing I feel like I finally got it sounding like it's supposed to. This thing is like the Swiss army knife of flangers. I've spent a lot of time with it learning how it works and I feel like I've only scratched the surface of what it can do. Also it was a tight fit in the box. This build has been really educational for me and I'm ready for the next challenge.

It is a great looking pedal. I remember being on that waitlist a loooong time ago, then I found Brian and his aristocrat board......

Built that pedal and never bothered when my name came up on that list three years later.

Wish I could remember when that was, 2008?, 2011? I was still drinking then, hard to remember shit.
Thanks dude, it's a crazy long wait time now and I would never get on it either unless I was looking to flip for a profit. And glad to hear you got your memory back, I went thru something in my teens and twenties with substance abuse so good on you!

Very cool that is! Where would I find the schematic or description of high gain mod, I do have a Rullywow board still kicking around, might look into implementing it there. How big is the difference to stock KoT sound? Cheers man!
Analogman describes the mod as a bump up in gain, something like 25% on the dial. It's not huge but I recomend it, especially since its only changing one resistor. you can do it on both sides if you want. here is the link to the post sonnyboy27 made with the schematic https://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=31448.msg302551#msg302551
Thanks Chris! Too easy I'll put that in too.
And I will get a yellow Sharpie to mark the chip with an "H" to make sure it's a prpoper clone... too funny.
I'm not gonna lie, it crossed my mind to do the H on the chip as a joke. I read a post where someone removed the paint on the IC to see what it is and it's the same 4580D chip as the regular gain circuit. What marketing, he charges 20 dollars a side on the high gain mod for one resistor. That is snake oil hype like the Klon diodes lol

Build Reports / King of Tone high gain

With the new amp in I've been on an overdrive kick, and thanks to sonnyboy27 cracking the code on the high gain mod I decided to finally throw together my king of tone from pedalpcb. I left out the on board 18v charge pump cause I prefer it at 9v. The lower headroom and added compression make it more amp like to me. I made the red side high gain and used some alternate diodes that were pretty much dead on fv for the unicorn tear diodes. Sounds like my old one I sold 5 years ago.

That's really awesome Dan, I've met some cool musicians but never got to take lessons. Must be really inspiring. And those builds look phenomenal. Your work always impresses!

Thanks guys. And yes Jimi, single coils with a deluxe reverb and tube screamer is THE sound. I did the double barrel recently and that's got a TS in it but I haven't had a standalone TS in a while and this hit the spot.

Build Reports / First couple builds in weeks

I recently got a new amp and have been playing more recently. The past couple years I have been playing my tweed amp and missed my deluxe reverb. I sold a guitar and got a vintage sound 35sc to go with my tungsten buckwheat. Having the tweed amp I got the overdrive thing down, but having a blackface again I needed to build some overdrive's cause I don't have many. Enter the classic tube screamer. This one is built on a pedalpcb oasis which is an EQD dunes clone. I used to have a dunes and it was my favorite TS variant. Then I recycled a drilled out enclosure and filled the holes and painted it. I built the EP-3 preamp on an Aion board. Subbed a 10n cap for the  47u on the switch like the chase tone secret pre. I never had one of these before but the added harmonic content and sparkle are really nice.

I can only echo everyone above, great build. The graphics are perfect. I have a fuzzdog board of this circuit, how does it respond and sound compared to other filters?
