I hear you!   Just when I think I'm done for a while, I discover something that prompts yet anouther parts order.

The fabbed PCB makes neat soldering a million time easier!  But with a project with this many components, taking ones time really helps.

Many thanks for this post!  Your guts shot is what I needed to answer some questions I had about my (currently non-functioning) OhhWah.

Cheers!

By popular demand, here are the guts of the Aquaboy.  I couldn't be happier with this build!

Thank you for the suggestions.  Now that I have a few successful builds under my belt, I feel like I can take my time with this one.  It's not labled "Genius" level for nothing.

I will certainly post what I find.

Thanks!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Dig Dug Troubleshooting
December 09, 2010, 02:31:42 PM
Hello everyone,

I have just made my (first) attempt at wiring up my Dig Dug.  I've managed to avoid my usual 3pdt issues on this one.  However, a new problem has popped up.

I get a good signal in bypass and a good signal when engaged.  But the engaged signal in unaffected (no wah at all) I can hear the clock ticks and that changes when messing with the speed pot (as I would expect).  But the signal has no wah and no LEDs light.  It sounds to me like a pot board wiring issue.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Build Reports / AquaBoy Build

I have just completed my AquaBoy build and couldn't be happier!

The new fab'd boards make soldering so many parts a snap and the layout of the pots in relation to the enclosure made the final box-up trouble free.

Many thanks Brain for producing such a quality product!

I was afraid of that.  As much as it would be easier for a "one stop shop", there's always somewhere parts are drastically cheaper.  For example, a 3pdt at PPP is $4 vs. $9 at Smallbear.

Thanks for the response!

Does anyone have the Mouser part# for 9mm panel mount pots like the ones you might use for the Firebomb or the Zombii ?

I am trying to minnimize the number of places I order parts from and mouser does not have a photo of some of their pots.  As a result I ordered the wrong pots.  IMO, the fewer places I have to order parts from the less I'll have to pay for total shipping for a project.

Many Thanks!

Open Discussion / MOSFET Transistor Modes

What is an "Enhanced Mode" transistor and how does it differ from a non-Enhanced Mode one?

What difference could it have in a circuit?

I was able to make the change with Small Bear.  But this also allowed me to learn more about pots and how they work.  Thanks for everyone's input!

You're right Jacob.  I was receiving varied info on what the taper codes mean.  Eventually I found a chart on the GGG site.  So I should probably use that as the guide.  Smallbear does not have the codes listed on their website, which added to the confusion.

With that said, I now have 10kA pots on the way.  I would rather not shell out $5 shipping on new pots.  What might the affect be with 10kA pots instead?

Thanks for the quick response Jacob!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Firebomb Pot Tapers

I have just ordered my parts to build the Firebomb.  However, I have been unable to find 9mm panel mount pots 5k audio taper (A).  Smallbear has 5k reverse audio (C) and 10k audio (A).  I opted for the 10kA.  But what would be the over all effect of the higher pots?  Would they be louder?
