That capacitor determines the second gain stage, but I don't think going from 100pf to 120pf will make a big difference, you should be fine to use 120pf.

I have one of these and find it very useful. Take a bit getting used to when soldering but it's become a useful tool.

Hi All,

Just completed a PT-80 where delay time (pin 6 of PT2399) and modulation is controlled by the bontempo kit. Has tap tempo, different tempo divisions, different modulation waveforms and a host of other features. It's a fun pedal to make some interesting sounds.

Also my first attempt are copper sulphate etching of the enclosure, just used a black sharpie, as an etch resist, to label and draw some patterns. Happy with the outcome :). But definitely a very involved process.

I can say it was an easy build because it fired up the first time! I would hate to have had to troubleshoot this guy, it's right and complicated. I had some issues post build where the sound was cutting out and intermittent, I had a lucky guess and swapped out the two germanium diodes, some dodgy D9e I had, and replaced with BAT46 diodes. Now it's working well and no issues, just an FYI for anyone who attempts this build. This fits into a 1590B but I had this trapezium shaped enclosure, a bit more room on top.

Thanks Jimi, I saw you post on this pedal as well during my build, the pictures helped me with ensuring the components were the right way around!

Hi All,

Just wanted to share my build of the up down daddy pedal from Delykpcb. It was a very challenging build and I'm very grateful it worked first time. I used 1/8 W resistors but still had to stand them up. The pedal sounds great and octaves track very well.

Got success, I swapped out the 4009 and the 324, now I get a nice phaser and vibe. Not sure which one is busted! [emoji28]not sure if I'm game to swap them out now and break things again! Thanks again for all the help Scruffie!

I'm jealous, we got no electronics stores anymore.
We have a local chain in Australia called Jaycar and they have a good selection, but pricey compared to tayda, but a big help that I can pop in when I run out of a specific component or two.

IC6 - This chip is LFO so voltages will be shifting around a lot, but you should be getting around 8.5v on pin 4 and pin 11 will be ground.

In relative terms, I can't see anything amiss with yours... the fact it did work then didn't says to me either a bad solder joint or the 4009 must have blown so I guess, re-flow the board and if that doesn't work, swap the chip out.
Thanks Scruffie, I'll reflow the board. I've also ordered another 4009 but might take a few weeks to receive it. Might be able to get a cd4049ube from a local store and test it out. Thanks again for your help. Will report back on how I go.

Hi All,

I've built the bloodstone phaser from lectric-fx and it was working well as expected, had already been boxed and was still functioning even when boxed up. However after a hour of running it started to crackle and then just went into a mad oscillation. I audio probed it and find there is a high pitched whine sound from IC1 pin7 and along the path to the 3pdt color switch on A2/A1. I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting and have checked the voltages of the ICs and they all check out. I'm not sure about the voltages I should be expecting on the cd4009 and wondering if it is damaged. I've tried to reflow all the joints but still not getting anywhere. It's weird cause it was working perfectly well but suddenly just went crazy [emoji51]. Any help and guidance would be appreciated.
