Build Reports / LE Overdrive - Pastie Drive
December 22, 2016, 12:14:40 PM
Just finished the Pastie Drive from VIPFx. Good pedal. I like the presence and mid contour switches over a typical TS style pedal. A little on the fizzy side. Just a hand painted enclosure. It was going to be a project that my daughter(4) was to help paint but once the enclosure was done she chickened out....so I got to paint it...funny it still looks like a 4 year old did it! It's all good. This one will have to grow on me.

Build Reports / The Colonel Build
September 27, 2016, 06:36:36 PM
Hey folks - Just completed my Colonel build from Rullywow. I know this is a clone of the Guv but I couldn't help but put the other logos on it. Just drawn freehand. Thinking I may redo the enclosure at some point or try to get it into a smaller one, we'll see. Anyway, this is a great sounding pedal and it does sound a bit different than my MI Crunchbox. Glad I have this as a different flavor. Now I am wondering about the Turnabout....

Hey folks - Can someone help me on which setting my digital multimeter(not auto ranging and doesn't show k or M on the screen) should be on for measuring these:

680R ?

I am still a newb and I am asking cause a bought a mixed bag of resistors from China and both values are in the set and I am second guessing myself on what I am getting. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Build Reports / LaVache build
January 10, 2015, 07:38:27 PM
Hey everybody. Built this for a gift. The enclosure is etched and it turned out pretty good. I liked the sound of this so much that I want to build one for myself. Love the sound of the Bat41 in the Z3 position. Tranny I used was the 2N3565. Liked it better than the 2n5088. I had to use brown knobs as the black ones I ordered haven't arrived yet....arrghh!!!

Tech Help - Projects Page / LaVache Problem
January 09, 2015, 10:05:18 PM
Hey guys. Just built a LaVache and I tested it prior to boxing and all seemed to be fine. Then I boxed it up and the trouble I am having is this. In two of the three positions(middle and up) on the shape switch everything is ok but when switching to the third position(down on my build) I loose about 1/3 volume and 1/3 the fidelity or fullness of sound. It does not sound as though there is anything shorting, no farting out. I swapped transistors and the same thing is happening. I have tried both the 2n5088 and 2N3565.

My urgent plea is this. I know the rules for getting help but I am supposed to give this thing away as a present to my brother in law tomorrow! I checked all part values when populating the board and have double/triple checked my wiring. On/off and boost works fine. Just that third position on the switch. Could I have a solder bridge on two of the diodes? I don't have means to update any pics or readings now. So, if anyone has any suggestions that I could easily try I would appreciate it. I will have one more opportunity in the morning to trouble shoot it.

If I can get it going I will post proper pics and tranny readings next week.

Thanks for any suggestions.

General Questions / What's up with Mammoth?
September 05, 2013, 09:14:51 AM
Just curious if anyone has the inside scoop on them. I placed an order on 8/30 first thing in the morning and have not received a ship notification. I followed up with an email on 9/3 and there has been no response. Not panicing but this hasn't been my experience with them in the past so I thought I would check the community here to see if anyone knows anything.

I do realize there was a holiday during this time period.

Thanks.

Open Discussion / MN3005's
August 06, 2012, 08:12:00 AM
Anybody ever try MN3005's from China, like in this link? Doing a search at this site returns lots of sellers. Some even accept paypal. I'm a noob so someone with more experience with these would have to do the looking into but if they were the real deal maybe a group purchase would be possible.

Tech Help - Projects Page / La Vache Transistor
June 01, 2012, 11:26:02 PM
Hey guys,

I am gathering parts for a LaVache build and having trouble locating the transistor 2N3565 for this project. I see that Tayda has this PN3565, is this the same part? If not, where is everyone getting the 2N3565? I did buy the stock tranny but want to try the suggested mod as well since so many like it instead.

Thanks.

Hey folks,

I figured someone here would have some experience with these since they have sold tons of them. I am just curious your thoughts on this amp for 1) a bedroom amp and 2) a gigin' amp. Pros and cons. I have read and heard many things online but just wanted some feedback from folks here.

Thanks.

Ok, so I have this pedal. Recently it started to work intermittently, so since I would be needing to repair it I thought I would de-goup some of the circuit board. I was surprised to find out that once I uncovered the IC's to see what they were....the numbers had been sanded off prior to gooping! Wow...major security measures in place. Just thought i would share.

PS: Just got my Glitterattii board...anxious to A/B these....if I can keep the BB working long enough.

Build Reports / Slambox....HOYA Booster
September 18, 2011, 07:35:07 PM
Hey guys - This is my third Madbean build. It was a failed etch job...otherwise known as my "road worn" series. I left it in the solution to long and ruined the enclosure. After changing my mind several times on painting it and countless re-sands...this is the final product. It's all jacked up but anyway. The light border on the bottom was a last minute thought. Not perfect but looks kind of cool. The text on the pedal is supposed to say Encore Effects HOYA(hard on your amp) Booster. This is a cool circuit...I like it!

Open Discussion / Diode?
June 10, 2011, 10:06:50 PM
Can anyone help identify this part and if it could be used for the projects here? I don't have a multimeter and I'm not familiar with researching parts like this. The numbers on it are:

GI 814 (it could be G1 instead of GI)
8223

Build Reports / Sunking aka: Master Luke
March 31, 2011, 07:10:37 PM
Hey folks - This is my second Madbean build and I like it a lot. I went for the basic clean K_on copy look. It's tough to take pics of the polished enclosure. Anyway, I used the 1n270's, everything else is per the build doc. I really have to thank a forum memeber, mjcyates, who helped with ordering the parts for this and my first build and giving a newbie some good pointers early on, thanks Marvin! Even though I'm a total newb the build docs and this forum made this build fire up the first time, I rocked it before I boxed it!

This was also my first etch. It's not perfect but I like the way it turned out. I think I have been bitten by the etching bug, I'll be doing more of these.

General Questions / Software
February 25, 2011, 08:31:01 PM
Hey guys - what software is everybody using for printing water slides and or etching enclosures? I'm looking for some freeware but it has to be tested and work well. My problem is that my laster printer in getting on in years and does not have a "mirror" option so I need to do it in the software. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

General Questions / Aristocrat Diodes
February 18, 2011, 07:52:06 PM
I see that there are several different looking 1S1588's available. Is there any more or less mojo in these two varieties?  Because there is certainly a difference in price.

General Questions / Slambox - SHO
February 16, 2011, 12:22:49 PM
Is the Slambox an exact clone of the SHO? Does it have the 5 Meg input impedance and output level of 8 volts as described on the makers website? Just curious.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Sunking - More Bass
February 02, 2011, 06:38:15 PM
Hi all, newb here.

Can anyone make some suggestions about adding a small amount of bass to the Sunking? Part values and locations would be appreciated. I just completed building and testing this thing and couldn't help but want a little bit more bass. Not a thundering amount on the low E string but just a bit to thicken the mid hump. I would like to experiment before boxing it.  :)

Thanks.

Hey all - This is my first build, a Fat Pants. I chose the name Brown Cow Booster as the Echoplex was used by Eddie and he is also known for having the "brown sound." I tried to keep the paint job clean but as time went on it just wasn't going to happen. So I antiqued the whole pedal. It looks like it could have been on Eddies board back in the day! Had a blast building this. My only regret is that after choosing the paint scheme, I could see that labeling was going to be a problem. With the stripes and different paint thicknesses I figured there was no way for a water slide. So I left it without labels. Maybe I'll figure something out down the road.

Hey folks - Can I use the wiring diagram in the archives that is for the Fatpants v1 for the new v2?
