Build Reports / Re: LE Overdrive - Pastie Drive
December 28, 2016, 03:51:59 AM
Well, that's what I was thinking...however since I can't leave anything alone I flipped the switch around and it functioned the same. Anyone else build this that can verify? I ordered the same switch in the build doc since it had to function a specific way.

To clarify...my pedal is mid pushed when switch is up, therefore the opposite of the commercial pedal. Is this how it is supposed to be? the other positions seem to function as normal.

Ok, this is crazy but I just noticed that the down position for the mid contour is the same as the up position on the original pedal. So my pedal is down position is the pushed mids, center is scooped and up is somewhere in the middle. The commercial pedal is the opposite. Anyone know if this is how it is supposed to be or have I made a boo boo somewhere?

Build Reports / LE Overdrive - Pastie Drive

Just finished the Pastie Drive from VIPFx. Good pedal. I like the presence and mid contour switches over a typical TS style pedal. A little on the fizzy side. Just a hand painted enclosure. It was going to be a project that my daughter(4) was to help paint but once the enclosure was done she chickened out....so I got to paint it...funny it still looks like a 4 year old did it! It's all good. This one will have to grow on me.

Thanks Lee. Probably will leave it in the big box(still might get a different paint job or etching though). After a few days with this thing, I think I am in love with the 3 band eq. You can really dial in a wide rand of tones. I like the mid range thing that it has more than a TS style pedal.

That said, do you guys ever get obsessed with the pedals you build? Like after building and checking it out you like it so much that you hear that voice in your head saying "I need another one of these."  I heard that voice on this one. Need one for light overdrive and one for more saturated lead tones. Although it doesn't seem to have too much gain even when cranked.

Thanks! Yeah the wire is a bit stiff but I like how the casing doesn't shrivel up if it gets to hot.

Build Reports / The Colonel Build
September 28, 2016, 01:36:36 AM
Hey folks - Just completed my Colonel build from Rullywow. I know this is a clone of the Guv but I couldn't help but put the other logos on it. Just drawn freehand. Thinking I may redo the enclosure at some point or try to get it into a smaller one, we'll see. Anyway, this is a great sounding pedal and it does sound a bit different than my MI Crunchbox. Glad I have this as a different flavor. Now I am wondering about the Turnabout....

Perfect! Thanks for the help. The packages I received were marked wrong. Glad I was able to catch this now.

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / Measuring Resistors
September 11, 2016, 03:31:31 PM
Hey folks - Can someone help me on which setting my digital multimeter(not auto ranging and doesn't show k or M on the screen) should be on for measuring these:

680R ?
680k ?

I am still a newb and I am asking cause a bought a mixed bag of resistors from China and both values are in the set and I am second guessing myself on what I am getting. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Very cool indeed. Are those trim pots on your switch boards to adjust the brightness of the LED's?

Hey everybody. Built this for a gift. The enclosure is etched and it turned out pretty good. I liked the sound of this so much that I want to build one for myself. Love the sound of the Bat41 in the Z3 position. Tranny I used was the 2N3565. Liked it better than the 2n5088. I had to use brown knobs as the black ones I ordered haven't arrived yet....arrghh!!!
