Yeah, +1 on the champ.  ive always wanted a princeton also.  my friend has a pre-cbs princeton (lucky slut) and i think it's the heaviest amp of it's size ever made!  has to be.  that little thing weighs a metric shit-ton.   ;D

Awesome.  For a second, i thought it was the new Moog Minitaur bass synth.  If it was i was going to say "What the fuck?  How did you get one of those?"  I think the reply still fits, though.

Definitely the Nautilus.  and the Fish face sounds cool.  even though those are the two that have long shot listed after them.  ;D  Also the harbinger.  Definitely the harbinger.

i would keep the blues junior also.  the class 5 sounds great, and i really like those little tube amps like that for recording.  i have a class 5, a champ, a valve junior, and a vox ac4.  all great, but they don't have near the clean tone and headroom you get from the blues junior.  also, if you plan on gigging with it, or even jamming along with a drummer, the class 5 wouldn't be loud enough.  at least in my experience.  i guess it depends on what style you're playing.

I second the faultline.  It's a wicked bass overdrive.  That and the sabertooth are pretty much the only bass effects i use.

I was just in V-Beach actually; picked up a V847 for 20 bucks!

I bought one off ebay recently for $25 that was supposedly broken, but it turns out the only problem was that the battery was dead.  Not kidding.  It's one of the older ones without the dc jack or true bypass.  Good candidate for the weener wah.

Yeah, ive been watching that thread for a while.  I am definitely going to build one.  My friend has one and it sounds amazing.  He wouldn't let me take it apart and trace it though.  What an asshole.   ;D

Can somebody school me on Tonebenders? I've heard lots of good things about MKIIIs I think...do they get more "refined" as they progress?

They didnt really get more refined as they progressed, they mainly got easier to mass produce.  The mkIII is definitely an easier one to bias than the previous versions and has a tighter bassier sound.  There are also a shit ton of different variations over the years.

Gary hurst mk1
Sola sound mk1
Sola mk1.5
Sola mkII professional
Vox tonebender
MkIII
MkIV
Colorsound supa tonebender
Colorsound jumbo tonebender
And a few others.

Awesome demos.  I dig the tonebender.  MKI's are really cool.  They're completely unpredictable.

The pinout orientation should be as follows: emitter on top (toward gain pot), base in middle, and collector on bottom (toward r11).  It sounds like it could definitely be an issue of a backwards or faulty transistor.  If that doesnt work, check orientation of the other trannies also.

Yeah, the dirtbag delay.  I'm generally a fuzz pedal guy, so i'm used to working with ten or twenty components.  The dirtbag has like a hundred.  I couldn't friggin' believe it worked at all when i finished it, much less the fact that it worked correctly.  I was suspecting i would have to do some troubleshooting and was prepared to do so.
