Is that the WGS vet 10"? I have a 5F2A clone with this speaker and I agree that this speaker is incredible in this application. I had a few speakers (Jensen, Weber...) in it before that were okay but the Vet 10" was leagues ahead in terms of sound right out of the box. Great looking amp. Love the touches of maple detailing.

How did you rewire the mod board? If you still have the green and blue wires lifted and connected off the board the mod board will not be in the circuit. If the mod board is still connected to the power rails of the ISD chip (how it is shown in the above mod diagram) and you still don't get any effect then something is up with the mod board. Do you have access to an oscilloscope? If you do then taking a look at ISD supply voltage should give you a good idea of whats going on pretty fast. Use a high impedance DC couple channel to measure the voltage on the emitter of the 2N5088 with different mod settings. You should see a wave that changes amplitude and frequency with the mod controls.

With a DMM measure the voltages on the transistor pins and the CD oscillator chip to make sure everything is being powered. Does the detune switch and pitch control work on the playback signal? If so it may just be an issue with the oscillator. The warble should be very strong (even too strong at certain settings) so it sounds like something isn't working properly.

Okay so the issue is most likely with the mod board or wiring then. That voltage should be 5 volts when everything is completely disabled. Check the wiring at the mod depth and detune pots. Check the voltages at the 3 pins of the transistor. It sounds like we are losing voltage somewhere between the regulated input and the output of the mod board. If you temporarily lift and connect the green and blue wires off of the mod board does the record circuit work?

Okay so it sounds like more than likely the right pins are going low when the record switch is pressed. If you get a chance check voltage at pins 4,9,10,27. These should change from high to low when the record switch is on. The next thing is going to be to check the supply voltage on the ISD chip. Check voltage at pins 28 and 16. Because the mod calls to isolate these nodes from the main voltage regulator (the two trace cuts) on the board for the vibrato and detune function, there is a possibility that the mod board is not supplying the proper idle voltage. 28 and 16 should be high (5V) when the detune and vibrato function are not being used. If the voltages are not high check the green wire connection on the mod board. If that connection at the mod board (or the emitter of the 2N5088) is not high then the issue is with the mod board and we can pick up the troubleshoot there.

The red LED not turning on tells me the record node is not going to ground when the switch is pressed. This would also be consistent with the no-output behavior you are seeing. If that node doesn't go low the chip never begins recording the loop. Can you confirm with a multimeter when the pedal is off and not plugged in? How does the wiring on your safe switch look? If you don't need a safe switch the pads shown in the mod diagram should be shorted together.

L5, its amazing. I am sure the other ones are cool too but the L5 has something special I haven't heard in other stompbox sized effects. It is a beast to build but worth it.

I've got a Behringer Model D. Its awesome. Its one of those things I can just sit and tweak knobs on for hours making ridiculous space laser sounds. You can definitely create some classic monophonic tones too. I've got a JP-08 too which covers those huge 80's movie synth chords. Both are small and really fun. I can recommend either depending on what you're going for.

I feel you man. I am down in Portland and its the same. Thick smoke and eerie orange sunlight. Lots of cyclists wearing masks. Its pretty rough.

There is so much stuff to do here I doubt you will have trouble finding stuff to do. We have some really good food and beer spots. Nongs, Pok Pok, Screen Door, Tasty and Alder to name a few. Forest Park is fun to walk around in if its nice outside. 23rd is a tourist strip and has some interesting shops. +1 on Powell's and there is a Blue Start donuts nearby! I think the Multnomah Whiskey library is right there too.

I'm in Washougal. Let's hang out some time. If you haven't checked it out yet, Stomptown turned me on to a place called Surplus Gizmos out on Cornelius Pass Rd. It's hit and miss in terms of finding useful stuff but sometimes you can score some pretty cool stuff.

Woah that's crazy. I live right down the street from surplus gizmos. Just moved to Hillsboro about 1.5 years ago for work. That place is super fun. I go there all the time for random bits. They have some really wild stuff out front sometimes.

Awesome! Yeah that always seems to happen to me with vero board builds. Tiny shorts that are impossible to find. Helps to build debugging skills  ;D Glad everything is working!

Hmm, you might be able to see the fluctuations on the meter but I forget how slow the modulation rate goes. Try probing R1 and the base and emitter of the 2n5088 with the meter and set the rate to be very slow. You should see the voltage modulate a bit. It is strange that everything seems to check out as far as voltages go. I would double check the values and orientations of the caps just to make sure the oscillator is setup properly. When Pin 13 is held at 0V the oscillator is turned off. When it is held at ~5V it should output a square wave at pin 12 and 11. It looks like your meter is just taking the DC average of the square wave at pin 12 and 11. I would check those voltages at different mod rate values to see if it changes.
