General Questions / Re: 5kC pot
February 08, 2011, 12:32:12 AM
I guess I should come clean and admit I bought the wrong thing instead of saying "I have this friend and he bought a regular audio pot instead of a reverse one..."  But it looks like I should get a couple of them and use them in other projects.  This hobby is all about the learning.  Thanks

My unscientific mind appreciates that.  Thanks.  It makes perfect sense

What, then, would be the effect of using a normal log pot when it calls for a reverse one?

General Questions / 5kC pot
February 04, 2011, 08:20:48 PM
Hello.  I am slowly learning this stuff, but I noticed on the Slambox it calls for a 5kC pot.  What is the significance of the "C"?  I understand linear and audio differences.  Is this another case of an additional way to code an electronic component?  There are certainly tons of those, I'm finding out.  Thanks

oh well, there you go.  Problem solved.  My point was that since the feeling is very fresh with me, I know how daunting the first project is.  Especially without a background in electronics.  It's just a nice to have the major building questions answered before you plug in the soldering iron, so that all your questions can be about why the damn thing doesn't work :)

I am hoping that the Rump Roast (when I finish it) will be my favorite.

I agree it looks like a good "foot wetter", but I think a diagram of the pot, switch and LED wiring would go a long way in allying first project fears.  I know it would for me, anyway.  I've built all of 2 pedals and anything that will make it easier is welcome as far as I'm concerned.

General Questions / Re: Road Rage

Thanks, Jacob.  That helps alot.  I have seen some negative ground projects where that would help.  Beats having to run a separate power supply to a single pedal.  I have shied away from negative ground circuits for that reason - not feeling like messing with the differences.  I will build the Rump Roast as designed, but I will look for some projects that might benefit from the Road Rage's flexibility.  Thanks again, Jacob,  for your explanation and thanks to Brian for the free premium.

General Questions / Road Rage

I got my free Road Rage board with my rump roast one -  thank you very much.  But, even after reading the doc on it, I am not quite understanding where and when you would use it.  Say, in a fuzz box, what effect will having more headroom do to the sound?  Where else might you use it?  Sorry if these have been answered already.  Thanks

General Questions / Phase Shifter

Is there / has there been a madbean phase shifter project?  That Systec kind of sounds like one, but is there something solid like an MXR Phase 90?

Very cool.  I bought the board today - tone unheard - I have a feeling it'll be pretty cool.  Thanks very much

General Questions / Rump Roast demo

Does anyone know of a Rump Roast demo (video or audio) ?  I'm intrigued about how this project will sound.  Thanks
