Open Discussion / online PCB manufacturer
October 04, 2023, 09:39:23 PM
I needed a one-off PCB made. I'm in the USA; anyone have recommendations for online places I can use to get it made?

So I have a 1776 RDD reverb and an EHX LPB-1 in a single enclosure.

3pdt switch I want to be the main bypass. There is also a 4pdt switch in there that I'm using to lift a resistor on the RDD and also bringing the LPB-1 into the path. My issue is I used the two circuits in one enclosure wiring and all that does is bring each circuit in and out individually.

What I need is for the 3dpt to bypass everything and the 4pdt is used to toggle between two channels basically: standard and fully wet (which has the LPB1 in the chain). Signal path order is RDD>LPB-1

How do I do this? Anyone got a diagram they could link?

What are you using for your pedal builds? Stuff I have is 24 gauge stranded but after examining some prior builds, I've noticed issues with them not tinning as well or easily breaking if I have to remove the circuit for repair/modding later.

I have a box of resistors and caps that I have organized and use for builds but I haven't ordered anything on a large scale in years and need to replenish my stock.

Does anyone have a document/list they use as a reference for what to order?

If so, you mind sharing it? If it includes switches and stuff like that, that is awesome.

Open Discussion / Brown Burr OPA2134U - no longer made?
November 21, 2020, 03:54:39 PM
I was looking to get some SMD ones for my Line 6 DL-4. I can't seem to find any. I saw that Texas Instruments bought BB in 2000. Does this mean the chips are still being made and the same quality as before but now from TI?

If I google just "OPA2134U" I see a lot of results from China but are these low quality knock offs?

Thanks.

I just got the transformers for this but I'm not sure how to read the pins on the transformer from the schematic. Can anyone take a look at this?

Open Discussion / Buff enclosure clear coat?
May 05, 2020, 02:14:02 PM
Do you all buff or do a finish wet sand one you're applied your clear coat? I have two enclosures drying. I used some Rustoleum Painter's touch X2 clear like shown below. The clear came out good with no real imperfections but I wanted to know if you buff the finish before assembling the pedal.

Open Discussion / Patina enclosures: Hot or Cold?
May 01, 2020, 04:17:38 PM
I was looking into patina(ing?) enclosures and found someone doing a demonstration of Hot patina process.

I've patina'd steel before but never aluminum.

Have any of you done it and any pointers/products you used?

I had to use some 1/2 watt resistors in a pedal build in a few locations. The output of the circuit at max isn't as loud as I imagined it would be for a fuzz and I was curious if the resistors in question could be a contributing factor?

Looking to build some and I'm a little overwhelmed as they sound great. Leaning towards a Mayo but curious what y'all have to say.

Open Discussion / Table top solder blanket/tarp?
April 01, 2020, 12:35:23 PM
Given the shelter in place, I can't really access my communal shop space where my work bench is.

My girlfriend is using my music desk for work and I want to build some stuff on the dining room table.

I wanted to get protective material to put over the table/my work area. Any suggestions? Doesn't have to be specifically for soldering but something durable enough. to handle if a drop of solder falls on there not to burn through to the table.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Open Discussion / Photo cell for long delay time
November 09, 2019, 06:47:09 PM
I've built some Pitch Pirate clones where I used an electric druid TAP LFO in place of the stock PP LFO.

I have no clue what photocell I used on one iteration I no longer have but it seemed to increase the depth function of the PP circuit. Anyone know what value photocell might achieve this?

Open Discussion / Parts bin storage suggestions
September 24, 2019, 01:51:55 PM
I need some new storage for my parts as they are disorganized and a pain to sort. I already took someone's advise long ago her and have a small tote that is divided in half for resistor and capacitor bags.

I'm looking for a tower like parts bin for various other bits - switches, nuts, washers, knobs, other stuff. Someone that is someone durable and secure as I will be moving it On and Off my work bench at my shop depending on the project I'm working on at that time.

Something like this but open to ideas.

I build the Pedal PCB Pitch Witch and wanted to know if there is a way to lower the speed of the LFO. Any suggestions?

Open Discussion / Blend circuit for bit crusher
January 09, 2017, 08:35:17 PM
I'm building the Parasite Audio Bit crusher and I'd like to build a blend control to use with it. There are a few on Tagboardeffects blog and I wanted to know which of those - or any others - you might recommend?

I may also build a boost to use after the circuit. Any recommendations on that? I don't need a lot of boost - it's not meant to be used as a booster usually is - and I'd prefer something that won't alter the tone too much. It would really be used as a Master Volume and a slight volume boost.

I was looking at the "Split n' Blend" on this page:

Open Discussion / Anyone here do repairs? USA
September 25, 2016, 10:53:33 AM
I have an old Maestro PS-1A that I could never get working right. It passes signal but no phase tones.

I was hoping someone here does repairs and would be repair it for me - you'd be paid to do so, of course.

Is there any supa trem layouts out there, or the Demeter schematic with supa trem mods?
