Got some cardboard and tape and went crazy. I couldn't find any bins around okc that I thought would work

I do the same thing, only I use coin envelopes. I think it was $5 for a box of 500, and that way you can just write directly on the envelope. That way I can also set aside any empty, or close to empty envelopes so I know what I need for my next order.

Another thing I do which I find SUPER helpful, is I use pieces of cardboard as templates to build up all the wiring and for wiring all the off board stuff to the PCB. I have templates for most of the common layouts now. This way I can be doing all the wiring, while I am still working on finishing up the enclosure. I will see if I can take a pic of one tonight.

General Questions / Re: INKSCAPE Questions and Help

Stoked you got it figured out! I have found the easiest thing is often to cheat in a way. I would have drawn a new circle using the color you want, and then move it behind the original object. Or another example is when i want to make a "cut" in a border line running around the ouside of a decal for where the In Out and 9VDC labels are i will just make some white rectangles and order the objects (bottom to top: the line -> white rectangle -> text) so that it looks like the line is broken.

Probably can wait another couple of hours (say 10pm pst), if people are interested please PM me with the product numbers and quantities?? I will also need to get paypaled tonight as well. The Allied site gives an idea of price, and of course I will have to tack on the shipping costs.

Gahhhh, just went to put in my order and they have 0 in stock on any of these, all on back order  >:(  Will email Allied to see when they will be in, if at all.

Update: Spoke to Allied on the phone, these switches are essentially a special order. I am going to put together an email with part numbers etc and she is going to give me a quote and lead time.

Soooo I suppose if there are other brave souls out there who would like to try a few of these out let me know asap and I will tack some onto my order.

Ok update based on my recent research.  NKK Switches makes 3 different kinds of lighted toggles, regular size, sub mini and ultra mini (there is a bunch of options for each) all with isolated LED circuits.  The ultra mini and sub mini are only available in SPDT, and the normal size is SPDT and DPDT.  There are a number of different LED colors and mounting styles, and they all seem to come in on - on, and on - off - on configurations, and have options for a single or bi-color LED (on - off - on only have bi color option).  Here are links to the datasheets for the three model types, including how the part numbers break down (important when ordering):
Large Size: http://www.nkkswitches.com/pdf/M2100.pdf
Sub Mini: http://www.nkkswitches.com/pdf/BIllumToggle.pdf
Ultra Mini: http://www.nkkswitches.com/pdf/gtogglesilluminated.pdf

The only place I have found so far to order these  is Allied Electronics http://www.alliedelec.com (there must be others, I didnt actually do too much more searching once I found Allied).  The easiest thing I have found to locate the specific switches on the Allied site, is to use the data sheets from NKK and figure out what the first part of the part number is going to be and do a search for that.

Also, they ain't cheap!! About $5-7 each for the minis and $6-$9 for the larger ones.  I just put an order in for a couple (got at least one of each size) and will report back when they get here.

In particular if you are printing files from PDFs the option to "Scale to Page" seems to be checked by default, which in the precice world of pedal graphcis means "Please screw all the hard work I just did up for me".  Have a good look at the screen that comes up when you hit print and make sure none of the scaling options are on. I also actually recommend converting/saving all your graphic files to PDF before you print them, as some programs, Inkscape is one of them, seem to have real issues printing with out scaling going on.

I would stay away from ordering foot switches and other hardware from Tayda, I have a whole batch of 3pdt that are totally unusable for customer builds (the nuts dont thread properly and slip and pop off, cant tighten them down at all), and probably half the DC jacks I ordered are total garbage as well.  Cant beat their prices on passives and whatnot though.  Chinese New Year stuff should be ending today, so I am hoping for a new cupon code next week.

Tayda can be great but stay away from anything hardware related, because guess what?? Cheap hardware is ... cheap!! Out of the 40 or so DC jacks I ordered I would be surprised if more than half of them had nuts that actually fit properly, and their 3PDT are absolutely TERRIBLE.  Again the nuts dont fit properly and strip out at the slightest pressure. But for passives and ICs and whatnot their prices are pretty much unbeatable.

Ohhh man, cant wait to show my pile, not sure if I have Juan beat or not, but it is quite a pile!

Open Discussion / Re: Noise Gate project anyone?
February 08, 2013, 09:12:00 PM
I was given a MXR noise gate(tonepad version) as apart of a PIF elsewhere, and IMHO it does nothing.  It passes signal but I notice no difference at all, but it could just not be working right.  I have heard really great things about the ISP Decimator and the Galego project around that. I have one that I am building up right now.
