General Questions / Re: True bypass switch

Build docs have wiring for both, one or the other. Not both together and switchable between buffered and true bypass.

Excellent thanks!!

It took about 3 minutes of me staring at that then the penny dropped.  ;)

Hey cool... they do some crazy sounding pedals... I wonder if they will release more kits?

Our Old Pal Aen is planning a Shiva kit as well soon or so I read on another forum he visits. (He posts on a few forums but his "official"  Dwarfcraft residence is ilovefuzz)

Also I wouldn't worry too much about the current Dwarfcraft build quality, they are all done on pro PCB and mounted properly now. I think some of his pedals even have SMT components now.

His demos just get better and better  ;D

edit>> He did 20 Shiva kits last month, they sold out pretty quick

General Questions / True bypass switch
June 14, 2012, 03:07:09 AM
How would I go about adding in a "true bypass" toggle switch to the buffered version of the Karate chop I built?

I like it as a buffered pedal as per the original Systech, but I would really like to try it out in front of some grumpy Fuzz pedals of mine that don't like buffers, without doing any re soldering to permanent true bypass.

I've seen this done on other pedals but no idea how to wire it up. :P

Re flowed nearly all the joints, it now works well. It's a really nice versatile tremolo.

Yeah I know, I should have used my own wire in places and not stretched the supplied stuff in the kit. Also about halfway through my roll of solder run out and I ended up using some old stuff I found, too impatient to wait and go to the shops to get some good solder.
Live & learn, it's going to be fun to re-solder this all and get it back out of the casing  ;D

Build Reports / Tremulus Prime (Non madbean build)
June 03, 2012, 05:22:06 AM
My 2nd pedal build.. well 3rd if you include the feedback/loop pedal I made first.

It's a Musikding.de Tremulus Lune kit and I substituted the stock red LED for a rainbow LED seeing as the LED reacts to the LFO.

It worked well for about an hour, now it's gone all intermittent on me. Signal still passes but no effect and no life in the LED when it does this  :'(

Bought some BRĂ„DA yesterday, a little bit bendy in the middle if you are stomping on the top tier pedals, but in all ok for moderate use.
Using the power supply underneath will add support   :)

Will use chain links and self tappers to fix pedals to the board, when I've got the order sorted.

Finally finished it this evening, no more bodgeing for this one.  ;D

Painted,decal applied and lacquered.

More stuff learnt... Clear sticky inject paper is the stickiest stuff on the planet!!once it's on it isn't going to come back off cleanly.
Once lacquered, the decal looks a million times better and clearer - if that makes sense.

I've also made another Alice. They're a pedal of mass destruction basically. It's an Uglyface+LFO into a EA Tremolo into a Rebote delay. Capable of some insane noises and mostly useless but great fun.

What LFO circuit did you use? I've just had a stupid idea after watching some youtube vids on how to make  "dubstep" efect box for guitar..   ..well maybe. idea is there, whether or not the building skills are there is another matter  ;D

General Questions / Re: Karate Shop Expression?

Also, word of warning - don't expect a Madbean Karate Chop to sound anything like a Triskelion.
The TWA Triskelion is a Harmonic Energizer on acid kind of thing. There is plenty more going on in that box then just the old HE circuit.
I'd guess they have a few boosters added in there and maybe even a fuzz to get all that noise out of that box.

yeah it works fine, nearly killed my hearing when testing the combination of wires out though lol

I used a "mono" jack, (just couldn't figure out how to use a "Stereo" jack) one of those Cliff jacks that cut the connection when you plug in a lead.

Mono patch lead to a Behringer FCV100 -- which has a 50K pot inside it  ;)

I have my wiring solution in another thread here. I'll find it in a mo....

here:  http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=2037.msg32556#msg32556

I have the pedal all apart again now as I'm painting it, and then will try my first ever go at a "decal"  then will do a demo  :)
