haha ok ....

do you think that it would be mainly a paper thing? and not a printer thing?
i only used this printer, and glossy magazine paper. i'll try to buy photopaper tomorrow to be sure

thanks for your input guys

Hey thanks for your help

Another couple of attempts and I'm a bit further.

I finally fixed the paper to the box with painters tape to avoid unwanted movements on the paper.

The position is not perfect but I can come up with solutions for that.

My question now is: why does the toner tranferred look so thin and not covering the surface as a real layer. I think that if I put this in acid r will not be protected at all

Maybe it's the color toner?
I'm printing it at my parents on a bw laser printer to try that.

Thanks for your help

i'm looking at this and i think i might have not cooked the paper enough... it's definately not as burned as it is on this example ... and doesn't come off as easily too.

yes ^^

color laser printer. i hope it's still ok :)
i do have a lot of toner on the box ... most details are just not there or really fucked up

Hello everyone.

I am decided to try my first etch for my next box.

i bought the preprepped enclosures from tayda
i reverse-negative printed my art on a glossy magazine paper
i cleaned the box with acetone
i started ironing the art carefully, for about 5-6 minutes (no vapor, full heat) just leaving the the iron at first, then circular motion without pressing too much.
when i peel the paper off, the transfer is far from being good, the writing is not even transferred, some edges of the drill marks are not round, ...

i tried 2 times yesterday with the same results.. am i doing something wrong?

thanks

Mods / Re: fuzzface 'boosting'

Interesting. But I would also like to get more gain out of the circuit.
Would it be as simple as increasing the gain of the transistors ?

Mods / fuzzface 'boosting'
November 01, 2016, 01:21:27 PM
Hello there.

I have made a board for a classical fuzz face with a charge inverter, and the classical pot to blend two different input caps.
the two first pedal coming out of this 'design' sounded great, but i find the sound uninteresting at best if the gain is not 3/4 full or even maxed out. But I would also like to have more gain on tap and a 'bigger' wall of fuzz.

I tried adding a resistor in front of the gain pot, to increase the 'range' of the sweep and go from midly saturated to a higer saturation, but i'm not satisfied with the result. I guess the transistor is already fully saturating. Should i add one more stage then? or maybe even diodes to ground before the output?
Does anyone have experience in that?

Thanks

i just rediscovered the Magic Malik Orchestra after years of not listening to it.. i knew i liked it, but after years of serious commitment to learning music, i hear a whole different music and i'm absolutely shocked and in awe by this.
I thought maybe some of you guys would like it.
Warning, jazz content (as usual with me :) )

With that simple preamp it doesn't sound that good but I will. And ideally I'd add some sort of eq like the one in the rc boost maybe and also a notch. But I'll start with a v1: simple version with sound and make another version with more options later.

Heu guys. I breadboarded drolos preamp suggestion and tadaa it works. So it really needs to be powered.

I'll try a few different preamps and I think maybe a notch filter to control feedback.
Thanks a lot for your helps guys

i've bought the guitar in 2006 from a professional gypsy jazz guitarist, i don't even think he remembers me .. or the preamp :)

i's not spray insulation or goop it's actually .. that kind of chewing-gum paste you use to stick something temporarly on a surface. it was used to keep the components in place .. and into the box. that looks as professional as the circuit :)

i'll definately try a simple circuit then if it works look at a way to add some control, maybe a bandaxall and/or notch filter (these guitars love to feedback)

that sounds like .... A NEW PROJECT :):)
breaboard time guys let's try to make that shitty microphone work.

#43
that might be exactly the reason why the volume is really really low and the sound not so sexy! :)

The pickup is basically something like this:

jacl -> cable -> pickup looking like the pic

Here's what I came up with.

the ? element are the mystery blue trimmable things it's written YA (not sure about the Y) 100K ?? on one and Y(?)A K7 (not so sure about K7 also) ?? on the other one.

they could just be trimpots to dim the led and, to control the lowpass filter on the other hand.
i have now idea where the +9v was supposed to be added in that mess. :) i guess directly on the input, to power the LED, and maye it powers the microphone too?
