You can try a higher value blend pot, too. Say, 100K.


The schooner is a simple 'clean blend' designed to be small and add an extra 'gear' to ODs and comps. For sophisticated panning, it takes a more sophisticated setup. JMK offers a PCB for something like that.

Good to know thanks for the info. I am pretty happy with the dry kill switch so will leave alone for now but keep the different pot in mind for next time.

Just an FYI on this one. The dry signal is never completely out of the wet signal and vice-versa. The best thing I found to do is put a switch to ground on lug 1 of the blend pot which will completely kill the dry signal and allow use of the full effect signal.

I think I have the pcb upside down. The components are supposed to be face down? If so I have them right side up (print side up). Should have dawned on me that the in/out pads were on the opposite sides 

I did that with my first one I built also. The switch goes on the part side..

Thanks. I got everything flipped around the correct way and it is better but still not 100% clean and the fuzz still doesn't sound right? I wonder if the buffer is messing with it. It is almost as if there is muffled clean tone mixed in with the fuzz when full-wet. Doesn't sound good. Hmmm.

I believe the Schoon Toon was jubal81's and I PMed him as well. But I thought I would post here as well in case anyone has had experience with this one. I am having a problem using it with a muff circuit.

There still is some fuzz/dirt in the circuit when blend is all the way to clean. Also the fuzz in general doesn't sound right (muffled, less gain) when used with the schoon toon.

Is this normal or did I jack something up? I verified all values and solder so I am certain I am good. Honestly I never have built anything with a clean blend so not sure what to expect?

Just curious what any of you folks in the know recommend for a video making/editing program? Of course I have Windows Movie Maker but curious if there are any (free) better options with more features, better UI, etc.? Looking to make a quality demo video so sound files, pics, text, maybe some video footage, effects and so on.

You really see how much stuff Mesa can stuff into an enclosure when you have to do maintenance on your amp, i had to change the Clean Gain pot that is a push/pull in my MKIV.... what a pain it was... ...chances it was on the front control panel, just can't imagine working at changing burnt bits and bobs if it ever occured, will surely send it to a certified tech.

Agreed about the enthusiasm of JP, the shred mode is like when too much ain't enough mode, loving that!

This. Most Boogies are notoriously painful to repair. I do like them but cringe when one comes into the shop.
A local guitar god/friend of mine plays through a little Mesa Subway Rocket and the tone just kills.

Hey gang I just finished this one up, my first 2016 build. Jon's Cardinal Trem I won from him in a PIF. I don't build to many pedals for myself these days but this one is a keeper. The harmonic tremolo setting is really something special. Very pricey to build this one but worth it I think.

I had this blue 1590B for a long while and finally found a good circuit for it. I used the optical bypass also from 1776. A tight fit to get everything in there but in the end turned out pretty clean. Obviously went for a vintage, cupcake-type thingy and covered it in ET. I like it.

I suspect a loose connection in the audio path. Run a signal through it and start chop-sticking around all components, switch, and jack solder joints and see if you can get it to act up.

The Ross is my favorite phase for sure. I did the tonepad one and added a "width" control. It is superbadass.
